Morning
1 Timothy 5:1 (KJB) Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
An elder is a man in the church who is preaching God’s Word and has a place of Spiritual authority over the flock of God. They are in a position of leadership just like a dad is in his own home. To rebuke someone is to express strong disapproval or criticize them because of their behavior and actions. To rebuke your dad or even for a wife to rebuke her husband is disorderly and completely out of line, but you can intreat them. Intreat means to earnestly plead, request, beg or beseech somebody in a gentle, humble and loving fashion. If a wife is going to rebuke her husband, it’s only going to tick him off, but a meek and obedient woman can be very persuasive in her requests. Although she might not have her requests answered, her meek petitions have been made known to him, and that is the best path to take. A defense attorney doesn’t rebuke a judge in a courtroom, they intreat them, hoping to persuade them of their cause. Peter rebuked Jesus, but Jesus rebuked him right back and called him Satan. Do not rebuke an elder, because he is over you in the Lord, and if they have instructed you in the teachings of our faith, then you must humble yourself under his guidance and direction. You should esteem them very highly for their work sake towards you, and rather than rebuking them, intreat them with extreme humility, and give them the respect and honor that they have both earned and deserve.

Evening
1 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJB) But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness..For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
In the modern age that we live in, it seems like a lot of people are caught up in the exercise craze. In the morning, they will lay down on their living room floor and begin to lift free weights, or else they will go down to the gymnasium and put in some time working out on various types of exercise equipment. But in the grand scheme of things, bodily exercise profits very little, because our Earthly bodies will eventually wax old and fade away. Bodybuilders will spend lots of time toning specific groups of muscles, but imagine if they took that same attitude and applied themselves to toning all of the many virtues and Divine characteristics of the Christian Life. Let’s be frank, the human body is going to become weak and decay because it is temporal, just like the rest of our Earthly surroundings. But the world that is coming is eternal and is a place that is reserved for those who have toned their hearts to perform the perfect will of God. Some people might have a perfect body, but that does nothing for the soul. On the other hand, exercising yourselves unto godliness is a workout routine that will lead to glory, honor and immortality, a Spiritual fitness program with which no earthly one will ever compare.
