Thoughts of the Day 1/29/26

Morning

James 4:6-7 (KJB) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

When people are filled with pride, it can absolutely ruin their relationship with God. This is because He hates pride, and in that state they cannot access His mercy. When people refuse to own up to their own mistakes and repent of their sins, they place themselves outside of the grace of God. God will resist pride, so we must cast out everything in our lives that might stand in resistance to His perfect will. Eternal life will only be obtained by walking according to God’s purpose and calling for our lives, but that’s not going to happen without humility. Humility will cause people to approach God and others whom they have wronged, and sincerely apologize for the offenses that they have committed, and it is only when that wall of pride has been completely broken down, that the waters of forgiveness can flow freely into the heart of man.

Evening

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (KJB) Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

At times, the Apostle Paul wrote some strongly worded letters to the church, but they were for the purpose of correcting their behavior. He loved them dearly, otherwise he never would have told them the things that needed to be said. His intentions were for the church to come to a place of Godly sorrow, which is quite different then a child’s crocodile tears. Only when you are filled with heartfelt contrition for the wicked things that you have done in your life, can you ever truly be freed from them. This is because genuine sorrow towards God will not want to live like that anymore, but the fake tears of insincerity is a sorrow that only leads to death.
