Thoughts of the Day 1/30/26

Morning

2 Corinthians 8:13-15 (KJB) For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality: As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

In this world there there has always been something known as supply and demand. After all, when you have a need for gasoline, it’s the gas station who is ready to provide it to you out of their abundance. When the gas station owner needs food for the winter, it’s the farmer who provides it to them out of their abundance. Likewise, when people have a desire for Spiritual knowledge, a man of God is ready to supply it to them out of his abundance. But if you needed to put up some hay for the winter, you would probably give the men who helped you a side of beef for their efforts. If your neighbor repaired your fishing boat, you might take him out on a week-long fishing trip in appreciation for his labors. A man of God is giving freely of his time and knowledge to the Spiritual growth of the church, and just as it is in society, the right thing to do is to give back to them out of your time and possessions. So you see, we all minister to each other out of the abundance of what we have been given, whether it’s gasoline, potatoes, or the Wisdom of God.

Evening

2 Corinthians 10:18 (KJB) For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

Can you imagine a general awarding himself with a bunch of medals and then pinning them onto his own chest? That sounds kind of vain doesn’t it, but many people who claim to be a Christian do this all the time. They will boast about all of their achievements and even join up with others who praise and commend themselves. Some people long after the praise of men, and if they don’t hear enough of it, they will praise themselves! But none of that self-glorification matters when it comes to our own salvation. Whether people said good things about you, or whether they reviled you, what matters most is what Jesus thought about you. Did you submit yourself to His teachings and walk according to his will? In order to enter into eternal life we will need to hear Him say,,… “Well done thou good and faithful servant!” Seeking the praise of men is not only irrelevant but it’s temporal, but the commendations of Christ will be eternal!
