Morning
Mark 4:18-19 (KJB) And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
When left unattended, weeds can slowly begin to take over your garden, and will choke out your other plants by depriving them of the food and water that they need to survive. So in order to protect the plants, many people will engage in the regular routine of pulling and removing the weeds. Once they are gone, the plants can thrive and go on onto fruition. The Christian Life is very similar because God wants us to be fruitful. He calls out to men to preach God’s Word, but a lot of them will be incapable of doing this because their lives will become choked with all of the cares and concerns of this world. God’s Word is a seed that begins to grow inside each of our hearts, but if you want that seed to grow into fruition, you better make sure not to allow the weeds of this world to take over your heart. You must remove all the desires for the things for this world, and devote yourself entirely to the Spiritual things of God!

Evening
Mark 8:38 (KJB) Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Have you ever had someone embarrassed to be around you? Sometimes children will be embarrassed to sit next to their own dad at a public event and choose to sit with their friends instead. Sometimes when a student at school sits down at a lunch table, many of the other kids will be embarrassed to be around them and quickly move to another table. Jesus is the creator of Heaven and Earth, but when He came into this world many people didn’t want to be associated with Him. This is because He preached the message of repentance from dead works and condemned sin in the flesh. Because of this He was hated by many people, including a lot of the religious leaders of His day. But whether they hated Him or they loved Him, He is their Lord and every knee shall bow before Him. If people choose to be embarrassed of Him and His words, He will certainly be embarrassed of them at the judgment.
