2 Thessalonians 2:13 (KJB) But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
In order to be saved eternally, we must become sanctified by the Holy Spirit which is the process of purification from sinful living. At the very beginning of the Christian Life, we become baptized by submersion, and all of our past sins are washed away, but as a new creature in Christ Jesus, we must purify ourselves by renouncing sin and embracing the will of God from the heart. This is a daily activity of forsaking the sinful way that you used to live, and learning to live for God. When you truly believe in the teachings of Holy Scripture, it’s going to result in the complete transformation of one’s soul, as you depart from iniquity in order to walk in the light. Just like receiving the prize at the end of a race, Heaven is the Eternal reward for the obedient of God, who have overcome all the lusts of this world, through a humble and submissive heart, and the incredible Graces of a merciful God.

Evening
2 Peter 3:13-14 (KJB) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Someday in the future, this world and everything in it will be burned up by God, and there will be a New Heaven and a new Earth. Unlike the place in which we currently reside, the world that is coming will be a place of perfect righteousness and Holiness, filled up with people who are sincere both in their service towards God and their genuine love toward others. The brief existence that we have upon this Earth is simply a temporary training period, whereby we are gaining the skills and the experience that will be required in order to enter into the kingdom of heaven. To be at peace with God is to walk in His perfect will, by transforming from a sinful wretch into a faithful and obedient Saint of God.
