Morning
James 4:8-10 (KJB) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Humility before God is a huge part of one’s own salvation, because it is a quality that you must possess in order to repent from dead works. To obtain forgiveness with God, pride must be vanquished from the heart by coming into the presence of God with meekness and contrition. This is a genuine sorrow that fills a penitent heart with brokenness and sincere remorse for the wicked things that they have done. An old building must be first torn down if you are ever going to build a brand new one in its place, and in order to become a brand new creature in Christ Jesus, it will require taking a sledgehammer to the sinful walls of pride, and becoming broken in the presence of God.

Evening
James 5:19-20 (KJB) Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;.Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
To convert somebody means to get them to change from one form or function to another, which is essentially what a man of God is attempting to do, as he turns people away from the darkness of sinful living and puts them onto the path of light. Most of us are involved in converting others every single day, but you really don’t even think about it. For example, how many times have your children gotten into a scuffle, but then you redirected them towards a different and more productive project? How many times has a high school student been in detention, but the band instructor took him under his wing and eventually he became a great musician! These are very simplistic forms of converting others from one activity to another. If you can get somebody to change their mind about the wrong direction that they are taking, and put them onto the path of productivity, then you are undertaking a noble task! But although many people will rescue others from physical death, a man of God wants to rescue one’s soul, by convincing them to forsake their false beliefs for the truth of Holy Scripture. At times it can be a daunting task, but if you can get them to change their mind, they will not only reap blessings from God and a better life because of it, but eventually obtain the crown of Eternal salvation!
