Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
For thousands of years there have been numerous men who have chosen to come out from the world and be separate in order to be faithful unto Christ Jesus. Consider Moses who walked off on everything in Egypt, or Lot who abandoned Sodom and Gomorrah. When I read and believed the separation clause found in 2nd Corinthians 6, I too walked away from the world and moved out into the woods to eventually raise a family. I delivered all my children from the womb in the corner of my cabin, and when they were old enough, I baptized each of them into the Christian faith. I regularly gave them Holy Communion and instructed them in biblical teachings. But because my children grew up separated from the world, they never knew anything about Valentine’s Day, nor did we celebrate it because it is a pagan holiday which I rejected out of a love for Christ Jesus.
The more into the world that one becomes, the more you accept and embrace its unbiblical practices, and you never want to attempt to combine the Christian Life with things that have come from the occult. Can you imagine Moses leading the Israelites away from all of the false religions in Egypt only to have the Jews participate in a yearly celebration that came directly out of the idol worshiping false religions back in Memphis? That’s asinine to even think that, but many people who profess to be Christian do this all the time. In order for us to be received by God you are required by scripture to come out from those types of activities and be separate.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJB) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
A root is what determines what the fruit of the plant will be, and the root of Valentine’s Day is utterly pagan. Many historians agree that Valentine’s Day originated from the Roman pagan festival of fertility called Lupercalia and they also agree that it eventually merged with Christian traditions. But this is what false prophets do, they will take things from the occult and combine them with Christianity which is absolutely forbidden. More than likely they have women teaching the scriptures and are completely non-spiritual anyway. This event is not only celebrated in society every year, but also by satanists from February 13th through the 15th. So what sets them apart from devil worshipers? Nothing.
By now most people have seen a cupid on greeting cards and on television but cupid was actually the Roman God of desire which is a central figure in modern Valentine’s Day. Cupid is not cute, it is a demon and a false god, and those who say otherwise are a liar, and as far as I’m concerned, they can either shape up or ship out. This is just like John Paul II who was a heathen in heart, and put a Buddhist statue on one of the altars in a church in Italy somewhere. A true man of God such as the Apostle Paul would have condemned this on site, and would never have had people get involved with heathen religious practices and combining them with a church service. People like this need to be grabbed by the earlobe and thrown out of the church. That’s pretty gentle compared to Jesus making a whip! Why do people follow them? It’s because it’s a fulfillment of the prophecy of Christ, if the blind follow the blind, both will end up in the ditch. To get involved with all the false religion surrounding Valentine’s Day and then show up somewhere to celebrate Easter is complete hypocrisy! But once again, that is the massive form of false Christianity that is flooding the world today, which will only get worse right up until the return of our Lord Jesus.
Over the years, many false prophets have tried to sanitize and incorporate this wicked pagan festival with the Christian Life, but putting a dress on a pig doesn’t make it a woman, nor does putting a robe on a false Apostle make them a man of God. The truth is that this yearly event is an affront to our precious Lord Jesus, and you cannot yoke up with unbelievers and celebrate a day that they started. A Christian is supposed to lead unbelievers to the traditions of Christ not the opposite way around!
1 Corinthians 10:20 (KJB) But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
Jeremiah 10:2 (KJB) Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen,…..
Ever since they were born, my children had nothing to do with Halloween for the very same reasons. To avoid any association with these pagan activities, I would buy a pile of candy when I had the money available and we would have a special candy festival a few days during the year. This was something fun to do with the children, and at the same time was not offensive to God. You must also remember that the love of money is the root of all evil, and Valentine’s Day has become so commercialized that if you took it off the calendar, people would be absolutely furious for lack of income. This is the same type of thing that the Apostle Paul dealt with when he preached the gospel. Coppersmiths and idol makers got extremely ticked off with him because people were turning away from all of their products!
In the church we are called to love one another, but the love that is found in Valentine’s Day is demonic. Christians don’t need one day set aside to love each another, because it happens every time that we gather together to worship the Lord Jesus. So mark the calendar the next day that you will gather with others in the name of the Lord, because those are the traditions that a Christian really needs to keep, because…..
……Valentine’s Day is a tradition of devils
