Morning
1 John 5:4 (KJB) For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Because all of us are sinners, each of us have dealt with sin at one time or the other, but in order to enter into Heaven someday, we must completely overcome iniquity. To overcome is defined as having success in controlling and defeating something in your life. As a complete unbeliever we are powerless against sin, but when we have faith in Christ Jesus and receive the free gift of His Holy Spirit, God grants us power from on high to overcome all of the sinful lusts of the carnal nature. Through the power of faith we can overcome things that in the past seemed insurmountable. Through the power of faith we can be successful, where past attempts were only a litany of failures. The Holy Spirit does not make losers, it creates winners, through the power of faith, and the abundant grace of a merciful God.

Evening
2 Corinthians 9:5-8 (KJB) Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
There are numerous blessings that come from giving to the Ministry of God’s Word. Tithing was mandatory in the Old Testament and was both a religious and civil obligation to give 10% to support the Levites. In the New Testament it’s quite different because we are not under the law, but under the law of love. For example, your dad might force you to go out and cut the lawn this weekend, or he might not say anything to you at all about it, but you choose to cut it anyway just because you love him and know that he needs it done. Those are two completely different motives and they are the difference between the Old and the New Testaments. When we give to the ministry of God’s Word it must not be done because of requirement or in a half-hearted manner. It must be a gift that is led by one’s heart because you truly love God and want to help further the things of His kingdom.
A millionaire could give thousands of dollars grudgingly, while a poor person could give nearly half their income simply because they love and want to support the things of God. So it’s not the specific size of the financial gift that is most important to God, it is the status of one’s heart when it is given, and God will bless those who give in such a manner. Abel gave God a greater gift than Cain, but his gift was motivated because of his great love and thankfulness for God. God is going to bless those who give in such a manner, no matter what the size of the gift might be. Remember that giving to the things of God is like a thank you gift unto Him, one that shows our appreciation for everything that He does and His free gift of Grace towards us.
