The Implosion

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that I wanted to tell you a little story.

Have you ever had the opportunity to watch people in large cities take down a skyscraper? A building implosion is a type of controlled demolition where a structure is caused to collapse inwardly upon itself through the use of perfectly placed and timed explosives. This can take many months to prepare as the demolition experts will study the blueprints closely and find the strengths and weaknesses of the building. Apparently, doing this type of demolition can be less expensive than others, and prevent buildings that are built in close proximity from being damaged. What they do is place explosives upon many of the building’s load-bearing vertical supports, and after months of setup when the detonation button is finally pressed, the entire structure will collapse in just a matter of seconds, and be reduced into one giant pile of rubble.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

Eventually, some buildings become old and outlive their purpose, and have to be destroyed in order to build something new in its place. But the same thing is going to happen to this Earth, because God will eventually make the final decision to demolish it all, along with everything in it.

2 Peter 3:10-14 (KJB)  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The Lord created everything that we see, but when I look around at all of the amazing things that He has made, it makes me wonder what the new Heaven and new earth are actually going to look like. Sometimes it can be difficult to comprehend everything that is coming in the future, simply because we have become so accustomed to living on this Earth. The scriptures give us a small glimpse of what it will be like, but it’s going to be different from the place in which we currently reside. Have you ever watched as a newborn baby looks around with amazement at all of their brand new surroundings? Well, I would think that the elect of God are going to feel the same way when they are granted entrance into paradise. It’s going to be something brand new, and never seen before, an eternal inheritance that will never fade away.

1 Peter 1:4 (KJB)  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Look at all the huge structures that have been made by man over the years, but not a single one of them is going to survive. Think of all the large cities across this entire Earth, such as New York, Moscow, and even modern day Jerusalem, all of which will be destroyed forever by the hand of God. Unlike all of the ruins that have been created by Earthly wars, none of these places will ever rise again out of the ashes of God’s destruction.

Isaiah 51:6 (KJB)  Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment…….

Hebrews 13:14 (KJB)  For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

Hebrews 11:16 (KJB)  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Many people will travel all over the world to take in the many different sights, looking at all of the creations that God has made here upon this Earth. But the New Heaven and New Earth are going to be so incredible that we are not even going to remember anything from this old world any more!

Isaiah 65:17 (KJB)  For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Jesus spoke about the meek inheriting the Earth, but we are not going to inherit anything here in this world, because it shall all be destroyed by God. Those who are Spiritual understand that He was speaking about the new Earth that is being prepared for all of His faithful Servants.

Matthew 5:5 (KJB)  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

The Heavenly father’s home is so huge that it actually has mansions inside of it! Who needs an inheritance on this Earth, when the elect of God have that type of inheritance coming sometime in the future!

John 14:1-3 (KJB)  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

How many of you have received a gift from one of your friends such as a brand new pair of shoes? You opened up the box, removed the wrapping paper, and found a pair of shoes that had never been worn by anybody else before! When something is new, it has been recently made or come into existence. Sometimes I think about this world as a vintage item, one that was created a long time ago, but someday, the obedient in Christ Jesus will be able to step into a brand new kingdom, just like walking into a brand new home!

Revelation 21:1 (KJB)  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

So don’t get too comfortable in this world because it’s not going to be here for very long. Our lives are like a wisp of smoke, and this Earth and everything in it will eventually be destroyed by God. Prepare yourselves right now for what is coming in the near future because the final days of this Earth are drawing to a close. With a great noise God shall bring this world to an abrupt end, just like pushing the button, and waiting for,……
