Thoughts of the Day 2/25/26

Morning

Hebrews 3:13 (KJB) But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

On a cold night, when a wood stove begins to run out of fuel, the overnight temperature in a house will start to plummet and cause things to begin freezing. But sin can have the same effect on our lives when the firebox of our hearts begins to run low. Like throwing another log onto the fire, we must keep filling our hearts with the teachings of Holy scripture and stoking the fire of faith and obedience towards God. Make sure that you continue to stir up the coals of your hearts each day, keeping them warmed up with the Truth, and the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Evening

Mark 16:15-16 (KJB) And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Baptism is a requirement in the Christian Life in order to be saved. I baptized each of my children when they were old enough to understand what they were doing, and made their own decision about following Christ Jesus. Baptism by submersion is a mandatory doctrine in the Christian Life, one that cannot be neglected if you truly desire eternal life. But young children cannot make a serious decision about Christ until they become old enough, and until they get to that point in their life, it is our duty to pray for them and their physical safety.

I was baptized as an infant, but even when I tried to read the Bible in high school, nothing made any sense to me at all. Not only that, but I got caught up in all types of sinful living too. This is because I never really considered the high calling of God by remembering the choice that I made when I was baptized, because I wasn’t the one who made the decisions! It was only when I believed the truth about what Jesus had done for me on the cross that I was baptized by submersion in my early thirties. That was a life-changing point in my life, because it was my own personal decision, and led by my own sincere faith in Christ Jesus. Once you have decided to be baptized by submersion, you have fulfilled one of the requirements by God to get to heaven. Others will include repentance from dead works, mortifying the flesh, and bringing forth works that are meet for repentance.

Many of us have had a rough start in this life, and wish that we could go back to the beginning and start over again, but this is exactly what we can do through faith in Christ Jesus. Through the abundance of God’s grace It is the opportunity to completely rid yourself of the old sinful creature that you once were, so that you can start over again. But the one main difference is that this time around, you are choosing to live for Christ Jesus as a newborn child of God!
