Thoughts of the Day 2/27/26

Morning

2 John 1:9 (KJB)  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

A doctrine is a set of teachings and beliefs that are established and followed within a specific field, and in order to enter eternal life we must continually abide in the teachings of Christ which are found throughout the books of the New Testament. Jesus taught that in order to love Him perfectly, we need to keep His words, and when we faithfully submit to His will, the Father loveth us and dwells in us. So as the Apostle James taught, be doers of the Word and not just hearers only, deceiving your own selves, because walking in the will of God not only proves our love for Christ Jesus, but that God dwells within us.

Evening

Psalms 145:18-19 (KJB)  The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

In order to have a relationship with the Lord, one must first accept the truth of their own sinful condition. Even the Apostle Paul confessed to the church that he was the chief of sinners, a personal testimony that required great humility to admit. In order for God to draw close to us, one must be brutally honest with themselves, by acknowledging the wicked deeds that they have committed against Him and others. God does not hear the prayers of those who refuse to repent, because they must first humble themselves before Him with a contrite and penitent heart. Those who fear God enough to acknowledge and turn away from their evil deeds will be lifted up, for the Lord God shall hear their cries, and mercifully grant their requests.
