Thoughts of the Day 3/22/26

Morning

Proverbs 29:1 (KJB) He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

To reprove somebody is to criticize or scold others with the intention of correcting their faults. It is to articulate your disapproval and dislike of activities that someone else is involved with. God’s Holy Word is filled with corrections from Men of God so that we can amend our ways and keep on the narrow path of Christ Jesus. But sometimes people will get to a point when they don’t want to listen to corrections any longer, and will become extremely stubborn and stiff-necked, just like a wife who refuses to submit to the authority and correction of her own husband. They will become rebellious, defiant, and pigheaded, refusing to bend the knee to those who have authority over them. Willful sin is egregious in the sight of God, and those who develop this type of obstinate attitude will have their lives cut short, because God shall quickly destroy them.

Evening

1 John 2:5 (KJB) But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

When you were a child, did you ever have your dad tell you to clean up and vacuum your room? When you finally completed the task at hand, it was your obedience that was the proof of your love towards him. A wife might not prefer cooking a certain meal at home, but it is the one that her husband always commands her to make. When she brings it out to the supper table and sets it before him, it is her obedient works that are the proof that she truly loves him. Years ago I told my family that I would never teach anything, simply because I hated the profession that much. But when I believed in Christ, I knew that He calls men to teach and preach His Word, and it is our obedience towards His teachings that proves we truly love Him.

Sometimes it’s better to remove the word “love” from your vocabulary, and learn to use the word “obey” instead, because when a man fully submits himself to the will of God, he shall be blessed because of it. Only through obedience will the true man of God be found, as he selflessly renders his will unto God’s. Our love for the Lord is perfected when we choose God’s purpose over our own, through humble obedience to the high calling in Christ.
