Thoughts of the Day 4/4/26

Morning

Colossians 2:8-9 (KJB) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Some people are going to begin the Christian life but eventually fall away from the doctrines of our faith. This is because rather than listening to biblical truth, they will open up their hearts and minds to all of the false teachings of this world instead. It’s fairly easy to discern who these people are because they will point you to worldly philosophies and answers rather than pointing you to the Word of God. When people start to turn their ears away from Scriptural Truth, they are going to start to believe lies instead, and rather than being preserved in the one true faith, they will slowly begin to spoil, just like a canning jar that was never properly sealed.

Evening

Colossians 2:1-2 (KJB) For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

When I was a kid I was involved a few times in some sewing projects, and actually learned how to knit a couple of things. Sometimes I would use a lot of different colored yarn to produce a small Afghan. But years later, whenever I looked at it, I realized how closely all of the yarn that I had knit together had remained completely inseparable. Paul wanted people in the church to be the same way, being knit together in love, and very close and affectionate towards each other . Throughout the teachings of the New Testament we learn that the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart. Our love towards God is displayed by our faithful obedience to His will, and our love for a neighbor is to treat them in the same way that you want to be treated. I guarantee each one of you, that if you can do these two things, you have a very good grasp on the things that are required to obtain eternal life. Keep at it!
