Thoughts of the Day 4/8/26

Morning

Matthew 13:23 (KJB) But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

In order to be fruitful in the Lord Jesus, we must abide in Him, which means to continue in the things that He teaches us throughout the Holy Scriptures. When the incorruptible seed of God’s Holy Word is planted in the proper conditions, it can produce eternal fruit, but it will require being placed in the right type of soil. It must find the fertile ground of a good and obedient heart, because when it does, just like any plant out in the garden, it is going to grow, and bring forth much fruit!

Evening

Acts 26:19-20 (KJB) Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Genuine faith in Christ Jesus will manifest itself in works of repentance. This means that whatever evil things that you have done during your lifetime, you will strive to replace with the works of righteousness. Faith without works is dead, because genuine faith will produce restitutionary works that result from Godly sorrow and massive regret for the way that you have lived in the past.

For example, if somebody has enriched themselves by stealing from others, they must steal no more and use what they have to help the poor. There was a rich man named Zacchaeus, who told Jesus that he was giving half of what he had to the poor, and would restore those whom he had taken from falsely, four fold. When Jesus heard this, He told him that salvation had come to his house. Works that are meet for repentance are restitutionary works that are driven out of a love for God, and a realization of the cruel works that you were once involved with. Those who don’t possess these works are deceiving their own hearts, because they have a complete lack of Charity for those whom they have wronged. Charity is the end of the commandment, so be zealous therefore, and bring forth good works, because they profit not only your own soul, but the rest of your communities as well.
