Thoughts of the Day 4/9/26

Morning

1 Peter 5:2-4 (KJB) Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Like taking care of your dad’s animals on his farm, God wants men to take care of His sheep! It’s something that must be done, not because you are forced to do it, and not even because it is a source of income. It must be done simply because of our great love for the one who laid down His own life for us on the cross. Jesus chose Peter as one of His Apostles, and He later asked him, lovest thou me? We prove our love towards Christ Jesus by taking care of His sheep, and feeding the flock of God. This is a task that must be done daily so they grow and mature in the teachings of our faith. Many princes wait patiently for the day when they will eventually wear the crown of the king, but for men of God, they are waiting for the day when they will be crowned by the King of Kings. Unlike all of the jeweled crowns in this world that will eventually come to naught, the crowns of Christ will never perish, as they are an everlasting reward granted to each of those men who devoted their lives entirely to the service of Christ Jesus the Lord.

Evening

Matthew 5:38-40 (KJB) Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

Christians are forbidden from going to law enforcement or Earthly Court rooms for justice, and when people do evil to us, we are not supposed to resist it, but allow it to happen. In fact, Jesus didn’t resist evil and allowed Himself to suffer and die on the cross because of the evil deeds of others.

Even when your wife does wickedly, and decides to run off with all of your children, we must not resist, or fight against her in a courtroom somewhere. In these situations all people are doing is compounding upon themselves their own sinful activities. When we choose the path of non-resistance, we are obeying Christ, and I guarantee you that He will bless you because of it. One of the reasons why, is because we are trusting in His justice, rather than putting forth efforts to avenge ourselves.

You can know for certain that God will not turn a blind eye to the wicked deeds that have been perpetrated upon His suffering servants, because just as Pharaoh found out, He will pour out His wrath upon them all, in ways that they never thought imaginable. Just let go and trust Christ, and watch what the mighty hand of God will do, for thus saith the Lord, vengeance is mine, I will repay.
