Morning
Luke 7:44-48 (KJB) And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
Recently we were speaking about how the Apostle Paul was preaching to do works that were meet for repentance, and this is just one of the many examples in Scripture of this very thing. Even before she received God’s blessing of forgiveness, she was filled up with kind works of contrition and penitence for her sinfulness. Genuine Faith towards God and a humble and penitent heart are going to produce these types of works. These are the effects of Godly sorrow, and are motivated by one’s great regret for their past mistakes. When you wrong others, faith is what causes you to do what is right and If these works never truly manifest themselves, people are only deceiving their own hearts. She found forgiveness in the sight of God because her works declared her love toward Him, and charity is the end of the commandment.

Evening
Psalms 51:16-17 (KJB) For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
The Lord Jesus taught that before you brought a gift to the church, you needed to first be reconciled to a brother that you had wronged. This is far more important than any gift or offering that you could ever bring to God. People can give millions of dollars to a church but still not make it to heaven, simply because it was done for the wrong motives. More than an offering, God desires repentance from a contrite and penitent heart, not only towards Him, but a brother that you have wronged. The ministry of contrition and reconciliation is far more important to God, than any Earthly treasures you could ever give Him. So before opening up your wallet to give a gift in the offering plate, put it back into your pocket and open up your hearts to God. Only then will you find freedom from your sins, and the healing and restoration of your souls, and then, come and offer thy gift.
