The Mirage

Good morning and welcome in today today we’re going to take a look at the following thescripture.

Rom 16:17

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisons and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

When you mark something it is to take notice of it.

We live up in northern Minnesota  and it seems like each day the loggers are cutting wood somewhere. The foresters will go out into the woods and take a spray can and mark the trees  that need to be cut down and sold. As we walk through the woods it’s pretty easy to see the ones that they have marked out.

As we live the Christian life we are supposed to take notice and mark out those who are rejecting Christian doctrine.  The ones who do so are called heretics.

I’ve always taught my family that if we make mistakes in our lives we have forgiveness with God as long as we apologize and confess. There’s one thing that we can never do and that is to reject and go completely against which scriptures teach. That is called believing a lie.  A heretic can repent but they have to come to a place where they accept the truth of scripture. There’s one thing that joins us all together in the church it’s the teachings of the Bible. To reject a love of christ and His teachings is heresy.

It’s becoming more and more like the days of Noah just as the Lord Jesus prophesied. Many people are departing from the truth of the Christian faith.  I’m a sinner who is no better than anybody else but what I do recognize is that in this world that we live in today, people are starting to turn from the truth of scriptue.  It’s a Christianity without biblical truth.  It’s spirituality without a conversion of the heart. It’s religion without any guidance and direction from God.

The Bible teaches Christians to be merciful, but these people are not. The Bible teaches us to be forgiving with others, but these people are not.  The Bible teaches us to forgive others 70 x 7 but they refuse to do this when others apologize. These are the doctrines of Christianity and for which Christ died.

The doctrines of the Christian faith are found in the teachings of the King James Bible.  A doctrine is a belief or set of beliefs that are taught and need to be obeyed.  A doctrine is a set of principles or beliefs, especially religious ones. Modern Christianity is turning into a religion without any doctrine.  They preach love but the truth is they don’t love the teachings of what Christ Jesus taught.

Can you imagine trying to fix a motor on a car without a manual? Can you imagine trying to fly a helicopter without any kind of instruction?  This is what many people who profess to be Christian today are trying to do today. They are taking God’s manual that he gave us and throwing it out the window.  In the Bible’s he lays out the doctrines and the teachings that he wants us to continue to keep in the church.

Today we are discussing people who are caught up in contrary doctrine.  These are people who really don’t believe the truth of scripture but they are caught up in a lie. They are called heretics. In the church we have grace and forgiveness with Christ but you cannot believe a lie. You cannot believe things that go in complete contravention to what Jesus taught.

Contrary means to be opposite in nature, direction and meaning.  When people are in this mindset they completely turn against the truth. In the scriptures we have an example of people who did this very thing.

2 Tim 3:8  “Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.”

I will repeat it again as I have for 20 years to my family, don’t reject biblical truth. It is what fixes us and shows us that we are in error. It’s a state of rebellion against God and His leading. If you turn away from it you are rejecting correction. Without correction we can never change our ways.

As I’ve said already, I’m no better than anybody else. Just like you I’m a sinner, but we all have to accept the same form of doctrine in order to inherit the kingdom of God someday. If you think that’s a joke you’re not going to think it’s a joke at judgement day. Fear Him who has the power to throw you into hellfire.

Each of us need to accept the same doctrine in order to get to heaven. We all need to accept what the scriptures teach. Direct disobedience to the commands of Christ does not honor nor please him.

To become pleasing to God we have to obey and do His will rather than our own.  This is why we need to mark those who cause divisions in the church. The Apostle did not want any divisions at all in the church. He did want us to take note of those who were causing divisions because they wouldn’t believe the truth of scripture. The truth is this.

If somebody apologizes you have to forgive them. If you don’t, you are a heretic. An unforgivable sin is not to forgive others and be reconciled to them. Jesus died so that we could have forgiveness with God and be reconciled to him.

Forgiveness is the basis of the christian life. If you cannot forgive and forget when somebody confesses fault then you are a heretic. That goes completely against the reason why Jesus came to the Earth and died on the cross for our sins. That is why the scriptures teach if you do not forgive others, God is not going to forgive you. This is why the apostles preached forgiveness to the church. It is everything that Christ stands for. The people we are supposed to take note of today are those who were caught up in contrary doctrine which is heresy.  Heresy goes completely against the teachings of Jesus Christ

Again, I’m no better than any of you. I do believe the teachings of the scriptures. Heresy is having an opinion or a doctrine that is at variance with established Christian belief. Something that is in variance is not in agreement.

Imagine telling your dad that you are going to go rob a bank and he tells you, don’t you ever do that my son, that is variance. Something that is at variance is not in an agreement.

Today you can show many people the scriptures who profess to be Christian but they completely turn away from what it teaches. It’s like trying to teach them the English language but they completely reject it. I don’t say this to condemn others. God knows my heart. My desire is that they turn and believe His Word. These things are definitely happening in the world today.

You can take people to the scripture today and they completely turn away from what it says.  That is heresy.

Think about the days of the old pirate ships. They certainly appeared like decent merchants but they were there to rob you. Christianity is evolving into the same thing. It is changing and very different than people who believe in God’s Word. It is filled up with deceivers and Liars.

Today there are pirates who profess to be Christians whose sole purpose is to turn people from Christ and the things that he taught.  They appear Christian, they look like a Christian, but they do not believe the things that Christ taught.  It is because there are a heretic.

Most of you understand what a mirage is.  It appears from far off that it will quench your thirst while you are out in the desert. The truth is that it deceives the the eyes.

There are many people today who profess to be Christian, but when you look closely it’s a mirage. When you really take a look at them closely they really don’t believe the things that are taught in Scripture.

When I was a young child I used to tumble rocks and agates.  Sometimes I would find rocks that looked like gold but they weren’t because they were called fool’s Gold. Welcome to today’s contemporary modern Christianity. If the truth offends people so be it, but I guarantee you, this is what is going on right now. It’s Christianity without Christ and what he taught.

Just because it looks like gold on the exterior doesn’t mean that it is gold on the interior.  Welcome to today’s modern form of Christianity. They have a form of Christianity but reject what Christ taught. How can they even claim Christianity as their religion?  I may be a sinner but I do believe in the things that Jesus taught.

Have you ever avoided something before? Up here in Northern Minnesota sometimes when you are down by the lake in the spring you’re going to run into a snappping turtle. My wife and my children have run into some fairly big ones on our walk to the lake who could take care of one of your fingers is a big hurry. We keep away from them. We keep separate from things that might hurt us. God wants us to do the same thing. To come out and be separate from the world.

Don’t allow yourself to be deceived by a mirage. Believe the truth of God’s word which will expose fact from fiction.

That’s where I’m going to stop for right now but Lord willing, we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then bye-bye everybody. ♥️

“Salty” Christians

One time, many years ago, I got a bag of potato chips from the groccery store. The dill flavored, ripple style chips, with the green seasoning flecks on them. Well when we got home from the store, I opened up the bag, reached inside and grabbed a handful and started munching away. However, something immediately seemed different. These chips did not taste like dill pickle chips. So I looked into the bag and discovered that instead of being filled with the flavored chips, they were just plain.

So we went back to the store and showed the worker the chips. Apologizing, she gave us another bag for free. Before we left for home again, though, we decided to open the bag right there to check, and do you know what we found? Another bag of plain chips. We then proceeded to open several more bags, all of them containing plain chips instead of the advertised “dill pickle” chips. Eventually we did find a bag containing the right ones.

We bought those chips expecting to receive what was advertised. We didn’t want the plain chips, we wanted the seasoned ones.

That is kind of similar to what Jesus was teaching in Matthew 5:13.

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be trodden under foot of men.”

So what if you put some salt on your french fries, but when you took a bite, instead of tasting the saltiness that should be there, it instead tasted like sand on your fries? It would be gross, and you would probably throw them all away.

That is also like a lightbulb, which on the outside seems fine, but when you screw it into the socket and flip the switch nothing happens because it’s burnt out. What is that light good for then?  It doesn’t serve a purpose and it is thrown away into the garbage.

If someone claims to be a Christian, but doesn’t “taste” like a Christian, or act in accordance to the ways that Christ teaches, then are they truly one in their heart? Just as salt is used to enhance the flavor of something, Christians are used to bring glory and honor to Christ. If they remain “salty” for Christ, they will receive the reward of everlasting life. But if they lost their “saltiness”, or don’t serve, obey, and bring honor to Christ, they will be cast out.

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells a parable of the talents. The man had three servants, to one he have 5 talents, to one 2, and to the third servant he gave 1 talent. The servant who received the 5 talents went out and traded and made another 5 talents beside the ones he had been given. Likewise the servant with 2 talents went out and made another 2. But what did the third seravnt do with his 1 talent? He went and buried it in the ground and didn’t do anything with it.

When the time came for the servants to report what they had done, the first two servants were rewarded. But when the man came and asked the last servant what he had to show with what he had been given, he didn’t have anything. He did nothing. He was an unprofitable servant, and he was cast out.

“And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:30

That is what is going to happen to those who don’t use the time and grace they have been given for Christ, and doing His will. We have only a short time on the earth, and our “mission” is to honor and serve Christ. Our purpose is to bring glory to His name and to get others to do the same.

We are the salt of the earth; don’t lose your flavor!

In Christ,

Andrew

The Sin Debt

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to take a look at the following passage of scripture.

1 John 1:9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Before you take a drive in your car, you first need to find the keys. Before you go outside to take a walk you first need to find your shoes. Before we get forgiven with God we first have to be able to confess and admit our faults. This is one of the reasons why this verse begins with the word (if).

This word is used to say that a particular thing can or will happen only after something else happens. For example if we do this something will come to pass.

If you show up for work this week you’re going to end up getting a paycheck. If you get all of your homework done you will be able to watch some TV. To get forgiven with God a condition needs to be met first. You first have to be able to admit your faults. This isn’t optional but it is a requirement.

There are certain things that you need to do to be able to obtain a high school diploma. You need to study and pass your courses. It is essential to meet the conditions that are set by the school in order to meet the requirements for graduation. Before forgiveness can happen with God, we first must admit the things that we’ve done wrong.

All of us have made mistakes. What we need to do is be capable of owning up to our own shortcomings so that God can forgive us and release us from our sin burden. Unconfessed sin is like carrying a backpack full of heavy rocks that weighs on your soul day by day. Jesus wants to lift that burden from us but we first must confess and admit the wrongs that we’ve committed.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

It doesn’t matter if you’re poor or wealthy, it doesn’t matter what level of society you may be at, the truth is, each of us are sinners in the eyes of God. To get forgiven with Him we have to become sinners in our own eyes. We need to look into our own hearts and minds and come to grips with what we truly are. We all desperately need mercy but the problem that prevents us from receiving it is an impenitent heart.

Eccl 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

One thing that a true believer in Jesus accepts is that they cannot obtain eternity without Him. The prophets, Apostles and Disciples of the Lord understood this. Without Christ and his forgiveness there’s nothing left but destruction and sorrow.

Rom 9:29. “And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.”

As I’ve said before we are all in the same boat together on planet Earth. All of us have sinned. None of us are better than the other.

Rom 3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

So what is the solution to our sin problem? We have to confess and admit our faults to God.

To confess something means to make known something that you have done wrong or is damaging to oneself or to accept or admit the existence or truth of your misdeeds.

Confession is so important that without it we cannot obtain forgiveness.

James 5:16. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God wants to forgive us and cleanse us from all of our sins. This is why he sent his son Jesus to the Earth. God is ready and willing to forgive us but sadly the thing that can prevent that is an impenitent heart. When we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us.

The scriptures are filled with God’s promises and there is one that we can claim here today. God can and will forgive us of our sins when we admit them.

Sin upsets God and others around us. It hurts him and wounds Him in his heart. God loves and cares for a so very deeply, but because of arrogance and pride our sinful condition turns our back on him. It is such a hurtful thing to do to him.

Everything that we have has been given to you by God. He gives you life and the air that you breathe. He gives you water to drink and the food that grows right out of the ground. He gives you the sun to light the sky during the day and the moon by night. He gives us freely all things to enjoy as a blessed loving father.

It is our sinfulness that spurns that love. I really believe that the worst sin that you can commit is against those who love you the most. That’s just my personal opinion.

Although God has undergone so much suffering because of our misdeeds and sin, even while we were yet sinners He sent his Son to teach us His ways.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Believing in Jesus has to do with understanding our sinful condition and our need for forgiveness with God. It is understanding how much we have hurt Him, realizing how much He cares for us, and admitting our faults before Him.

Rom 5:6-8

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

At judgement day nobody will ever be able to claim that God did not love them. It is evident even in the things of this world that he created for us. It is evident in him sending his son Jesus to die on the cross so that we could have forgiveness with him.

The hindrance to a persons salvation is their own heart. It is the unwillingness to accept the truth that we are all sinners. God loves and cares for us each and every day, but we must understand the fact that we have hurt him. When you hurt others you apologize.

If God didn’t love us I guarantee you we wouldn’t be here right now. His mercy and his patience toward us and this sinful world are amazing. His forbearance only reveals His divinity.

Titus 3:3-5 – For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

It is clear that God cares for us and loves us. It is clear that God wants to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It is clear that everyone on the face of this Earth is a sinner. It is clear that there is only one way to obtain eternal life and it begins with confession towards our precious Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins.

There have been people throughout the centuries who taught that God has predestined people to damnation. I will remind you of this one simple truth today, God wants you to repent more than he does to punish you.

Retribution is not God’s first choice otherwise the world would not be standing here today. There will be eternal punishment someday, but God gives us an opportunity right now to avoid that. He has ample amounts of grace to save you from that punishment. He’s giving you the opportunity right now to turn back to him because he loves you. God will punish sin because he is just but in his great love he wants to save each of us. He wants us to return to Him, confess and get forgiven.

So today I want to you to think about everything that God gives you during your day. I want you to recognize and to realize how much God cares for you. I want you to think about the suffering that Jesus endured at the cross out of love for you. When you think of all these things, admit your faults to Him. God doesn’t want anybody to perish but that all will come to repentance. Repentance begins by admitting the truth of what each of us are, a bunch of wretched sinners.

Let’s think about those things for today and Lord willing we will talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then bye-bye everybody.♥️

The Holy Woman

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to take a look at a passage of scripture from 1 Peter chapter 3. The topic of our discussion is going to be primarily about submission.

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Submission is the action or fact of accepting and yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person. When you submit, it is defined as being obedient and obeying the will, treatment and control of somebody else.

I’ve talked about this numerous times in the past, but when you go out in society and get a job you have a boss who is your authority over you. Each day people willingly submit and obey their boss. Those who don’t are probably going to end up getting fired from their job. It’s very similar in the military when you go into basic training. You obey people who have the rule over you. If you don’t they kick you out of the military.

A marriage is one of the closest unions upon the face of the earth. A man and a woman is joined in a union by God together. Although they are joined together as one in the flesh through sexual relationships, a man is above the woman in all respects. In a marriage, a wife is supposed to be in submission to her own husband. She can resist that control and fight against his authority, but remember it’s the Lord Jesus who took the nails on the cross for our sins and He requires that a woman be in submission to her man.

Somebody who is going to resist authority in the military will probably end up going to jail. Life is about learning to obey those who have the rule over you. As a child you learn to obey a parent or your dad. The dad is the ultimate Authority in a home. The home is kind of like a ship and the dad is the captain. He has control over his wife and his children. Submission is to obey Him in everything. This is what Christianity teaches.

The opposite of submission is rebellion which is something that God absolutely hates. He detests it. Remember that places of control and authority we’re created by the Lord Jesus Christ and for him. Whether somebody is a King over an entire nation or he’s a dad over his small home, these places have been created by the Lord Jesus Christ. A wife is never to usurp over her husband’s authority. If she truly loves Christ she will obey this command.

Any woman who professes to believe in Jesus Christ, out of love and what he did for us at his cross, she will yield to the authority in the home and the man that Christ has placed over her. She needs to yield to his authority.

Scripture teaches to submit one to another which means whatever your place of authority is, you need to obey. Whether it’s children who obey their parents, or a wife obeys her husband.

Submission has to do with obeying and yielding to an authority in your life. A woman has authority in the home over the children, but remember the husband has authority over her and the children both. She needs to obey him in everything and do what she’s told by him. This is God will for her.

If she chooses willingly not to obey her husband she is in a state of anarchy. She’s in anarchy against Christ and the teachings of scripture. Anarchy is simply a state of disorder that is due to absence or non-recognition of authority.

A wife may tell her children to get into the car because they are going to go to the grocery store. The children might say that they want to stay home but the mother says no you’re going to get in the car and we’re going to go to the grocery store. You need to obey me, get moving!

A wife may demand obedience from her own children but she needs to treat the husband with the same respect and obedience. When the husband says no to her, she needs to listen to what he says just like the children are expected to listen to her.

There were numerous times when I used to come home from work and my wife used to say that I needed to discipline our son. She said he’s not listening to anything I tell him to do. I would take him into his bedroom and sit him down and talk to him about what was going on. I made sure he understood what it meant to obey her. If a wife expects obedience from children she needs to obey her husband in the same way, otherwise all it is is hypocrisy. You expect obedience from others but you yourself won’t obey.

Scripture teaches us today that the wives are supposed to be in subjection to their own husbands. They are supposed to obey them whether they are a believer or an unbeliever. They’re not supposed to preach at men because that is forbidden by God. The men can be won to Christ when they behold the wives chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Chaste means they seriously and sincerely love you with all their heart. When wives fear their husband it means that they respect, honor, listen and obey the things that they are told to do by him. Those two qualities can win a man to Christ.

A woman can put on makeup in the morning or do her hair. She can wear nice clothes and shoes. Those things have nothing to do with salvation of a soul. If she wants to be saved she needs to put on a meek and quiet spirit. If she is truly filled with meekness, it means that she will obey her husband in everything.

Meekness means she doesn’t talk back or usurp authority over the husband. Can you imagine Jesus talking back to his blessed father? Can you imagine the apostles rebelling against Christ and disobeying him? Many women who profess to be a Christian do this to their own husbands and don’t even give it a second thought. Some women today are more focused on their looks rather than what is on the inside of their hearts.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands

Holy women who trust in God will be in subjection to their husband. There are many women today who profess to be a Christian, yet they completely rebel against Christ and what he taught. There are many people who actually support the things that these rebellious women do.

There is a false form of Christianity that is on the rise in the world. A truly Holy woman of God will be in subjection to her husband. If she can’t obey her husband and do the things that he tells her, she is not going to obey Jesus. If she doesn’t obey her husband in that which is least she will be unfaithful in much, not only to her husband but Christ himself. We have a great example of a holy woman of God in the scriptures who obeyed her husband in everything.

Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. When you obey you submit to somebody else’s Authority. When you obey you follow the instruction or guidance of somebody else.

The Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ show obedience to Jesus by preaching and teaching God’s Word to the people and baptizing them. When you obey you follow somebody’s rules and instructions. When a woman does not obey what she is told by her husband, it is called disobedience in the dictionary. It is also known as rebellion. Rebellion is to fight against those who have authority over you.

Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. The man is the head of the home. He is the head over the wife and the children. He is the lord of the house. If a woman were to usurp over him it’s no different then a lieutenant on a ship who leads all the shipmates in a rebellion against the captain of the vessel. That is called a mutiny. It is evil and wicked.

Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Ephesians 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Whatever a husband commands you to do, you need to obey him in everything. If you choose not to, you are sinning against him and Christ at the same time.

1st Peter 5:5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Ephesians 5:22 wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord. If she can not obey her husband who she has seen she’s not going to obey Jesus Christ whom she has not seen.

1st Corinthians 14:34. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

I’ve always told my family that I am a man and I’m the head of our household. That is the position that God has placed me. If God had made me a woman and I was a mother and a wife, I guarantee you I would have submitted myself to everything that my husband told me to do, knowing that I would be pleasing and obeying Christ by doing so. Obedience pleases those who are an authority over you. I am not a woman but God created me as a man. As a man I am charged with the responsibility of leading my family in biblical truth. God wants each of us to learn to submit to our authority in our lives. Without submission and obedience you’ll never truly be able to be a Christian in your heart. Those are things that show God how much we love him.

Think about those things for today and Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye bye everybody♥️

Following the Instructions

Have any of you ever bought a set of Legos? Like most people I enjoyed building what I wanted to, but when I first got a brand new set, I always built according to the instructions and made what was shown on the picture. I once got a lego set of a town, with cars and a gas station, and other buildings. Step by step, I built each piece, until each lego was used, and once I was finished, it looked exactly like the pictures. I followed the instructions, and I acheived the end result.

On a much larger scale, some building centers will sell a complete house in a kit, with all of the materials needed and a blueprint showing where everything goes and how to build it. You start with the foundation, and then you start building the floor, the walls, the roof, and so on. Once the main frame is constructed, you can then begin to refine the inside by adding sheetrock or wall paneling, you add moulding around the windows and doors, you start painting, until you get to the point where the house is completely finished, and looks just like the picture. This happened because you followed the instructions.

Likewise, when a person makes the decision to become a Christian, the need to follow the instructions. In order to go from an unbeliever to a Christian firmly founded in the faith, they need to read the instructions left for us by Jesus and His apostles.

Just as a house isn’t completely built and finished in one day, or a few days, a person doesn’t become perfect overnight. They aren’t complete immediately. It will take some time to complete a person’s transformation from a sinner in the world into a servant of Christ. They just need to read the scriptures, and follow the instructions.

A synonym for the word follow is obey, and obey is defined as “to act according to the commands of; to adhere to; comply; conform.”

Even those who have been a Christian for many, many years still have things that they can learn. They have things that they can overcome, temptations to resist. We are all a work in progress, studying the map that has been left for us.

Jesus is the perfect example that all of us can look up to to try to become. Although Jesus was and is completely perfect and faultess, and we are not, that should not stop up from trying to perfect our lives every day. A pitcher in baseball might start out the game by walking the first batter, and then proceed to record 27 straight outs to win the game, which means that they had thrown a “no-hitter”, instead of a “perfect game.” But just because they no longer would be able to attain a “perfect game,” that didn’t stop them from trying to be perfect the rest of the game.

Our time on earth is limited. We don’t have an infinite amount of time, and we don’t know which day God chooses to take us. We need to follow the instructions and teachings found in the Bible, now, today. Keep progressing farther and farther each day in your faith.

The instructions and commandments found in the Bible are not difficult.(1 John 5:3) In fact, they can be summed up in a few verses.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these to commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

When you love someone as you would yourself, then you will be doing all that was contained in the Law.

So what have we been instructed to do? Love one another.

In Christ,

Andrew

Course Correction

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to look at some scripture from 2nd Timothy chapter 3 but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

I have always enjoyed sailing. One of the things that I’ve always learned each time that I go out there Is that there is always a need to correct your course that you are currently on in order to make sure that you’re going to get to the right destination at the end of the lake. There are slight little adjustments and corrections that you have to do all the time depending on wind, waves or even the weather.

I’ve learned that it is very similar to the Christian life because each of us are trying to correct our course day by day and become obedient and faithful to what the Christian faith teaches us. The Christian life is about constant course correction.

Many many years ago when they used to sail the old sailing ships, they had to constantly keep looking at the compass to guide them on their way. God through his forgiveness, mercy and grace allows us to change our path while here upon the Earth.

When each of us began the Christian walk with Christ, it’s kind of like putting a sailboat into the lake for the very first time. You really don’t know what you’re doing. You first need to learn how to put up the sails. Next you learn to do all the rigging. When you figure that out, then you have to understand how the rudder and the centerboard work. You might take that boat out close to the shore somewhere and learn to see if you can actually catch some wind in order to get some kind of movement out on the water.

As you’ll learn to sail, you learn to pick a spot out at the end of the lake and head for it. No matter how good of a sailor you may be, it’s going to require a few course corrections along the way to get all the way home. The Christian faith is very similar to this. Even as you mature in Christ Jesus, there are going to be little changes and things that you have to alter in your life to eventually get home to our final destination with Christ. When you first began being a Christian there were some major things that you needed to change but as you grow into maturity you will find that smaller perfections will be required in your Christian walk with God.

If we do make a mistake along the way, we can come boldly to the throne of grace and get forgiven in the time of need. God gives us the grace that we need so that we can make a course correction in our lives. This is one of the reasons why he wants us to be very forgiving with others in the church. As He is toward us, He wants us to be toward each other. The Bible teaches us that God’s word is given to us for correction.

Have you ever had to fix a mistake in your life? If you did then you were making a correction.

Imagine painting your kitchen and the next morning when you got up, realizing that it was completely the wrong color. You decide to go out and buy a different color of paint to redo it. That is what you would call a correction.

A secretary might receive a transcription from somebody that she has to transcribe, but it has a lot of mistakes. She needs to fix misspelled words. When she does that, it’s called a correction. She corrects a mistake.

The dictionary defines correction as an improvement or revision when there is something that needs to be fixed. It is a change that is made to something in order to correct or improve it.

How many times have you had to write a letter to somebody but had to go through many different drafts or revisions before you sent it out? God gives unto each of us forgiveness and Grace in the church so that we can revise and change the things in our life for the better. Every wrong that we make God allows us to correct our course to get back on the track and follow the teachings of scripture.

Each of us in the church have got all kinds of different weaknesses and faults that we need to work on in our personal lives. These faults certainly affect other people in the church but remember, God gives us the grace that we need in order to do a course correction. He gives us ample amounts of grace.

Can you imagine an old sailing ship crossing the Atlantic Ocean who was told by their captain that there would be no availability for a course correction. Where do you think they would have ended up? Surely not the place you were intending to go.

God gives us Grace so that we can alter and change things in our lives in order to become compliant with His will. When we first begin the Christian walk, there may be some huge changes that need to happen but as we grow in our faith there’s going to be little smaller areas that we need to tweak and correct.

Each of us needs to change and to become humble. We need to become meek, loving and obedient towards our God. We need to change and become faithful and compliant to His desires for us.

Each of us are here upon planet Earth. When you become a Christian what we are doing is preparing ourselves to be able to land on the shore of our final destination which is the kingdom of heaven. In order to do so and to become what God wants each of us to be, we have to correct certain things. The end of the Commandment is love out of a pure heart. The word love is a word that is very broad. What I mean by that is this.

If you say that you have a motorized vehicle it could be a moped, car, truck, bus, semi or even a child’s mini bike. The word love encompasses a lot of different things.

The Christian life is more than just professing to love others, it is converting to the love that is found in the scriptures. God’s love is far different than the world’s concept of love. This is why the scriptures are there to guide us into Divine truth. They teach us how to love others the way that God loves us.

2 Tim 3:16

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

When I went to high school I can always remember something that I learned in math class. They said the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. As a Christian we are attempting to take a straight line to our destination which is the kingdom of heaven. It’s the same thing when you sail. You’re setting your course as a straight line to your destination across the lake. On the way God gives us Grace that we need to correct our path.

There’s all kinds of things when you’re out on the lake sailing that you can run into. Strong winds may blow you off course. You can run into a log that’s hidden under the boat and break your rudder off. There are little things in life that we have to deal with day by day as we run the Christian Life. What matters is that you get back up and keep running.

Think about how many airplanes and ships have to adjust their course day-by-day and hour-by-hour depending on conditions and the things that are happening around them.

The Christian Life as you start to grow and mature in God’s word ends up about making minute adjustments day by day.

Maybe you said something for just a split second in your day that you regret but the other 23 hours and 59 minutes were fine. You need to make a small adjustment.

Maybe you said something that was arrogant fo a moment, but the other 23hours and 59:45 seconds were flawless.

There are a little small adjustments that we each need to do that will result in a huge course correction in your final destination.

Think about people who race cars for a living. A mechanic might make very small adjustments to a carburetor on a vehicle or they might make minor adjustments on a transmission. Because of those small things that they did they eventually win the race. As we start the Christian Life, there usually will be many big things that you turn away from. The further that you go in Christianity the smaller the corrections will become. That’s what happens as you mature. You might see a huge change in the beginning of the Christian walk as you look backwards in time, but as you mature the change has become smaller.

God gives each of us plenty of Grace. No matter how mature or how long that you’ve been a Christian God gives us the grace that we need to overcome each of our small little faults.

Remember that correction is an improvement or a revision of something that needs to be fixed. When you fix something it means to make whole or able to work properly again. It means to repair and to correct a problem that exists. God wants to fix each of us. God is a spiritual mechanic. His manual is found in the teachings of God’s holy word.

When we look into scripture, we realize the right or the wrong way to go. We realize the things that we’re doing okay and the things that we’re doing wrong. In the Christian faith God gives us a Grace in order to fix things in our lives. He gives us grace in order to correct ourselves. God’s instruction is given to us for correction.

Pro 15:32 “He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.”

Pro 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

If the captain tells you that you need to correct your course are you going to listen to him? Through the instruction in the teachings of the King James Bible, God shows us the right path and course to be on. Just like a captain who runs the ship are you going to listen to what he has to say? Are you going to do a course correction in your own life so that you can save not only yourself but others who are around you?

Let’s think about those things for today and Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow till then bye-bye everybody♥️♥️

Becoming New in Christ

Years ago, I was cleaning up and picking up some things around a building on our property. We had a bunch of scrap pieces of wood, newspaper, and cardboard scattered throughout it so we decided to throw it all into a barrel stove and burn it. Well, one time when I was walking by the stove and I tripped over something. And you know how when you trip and start to fall that you instinctively reach out in front of you to grab something to stop your fall? That is what I did, only the thing that I reached out to stop myself from falling happened to be the still-hot barrel stove.

Immediately I went and plunged my hand into cold water to ease the pain. About 10 minutes later, I had a huge blister covering most of my palm, as my body started to heal itself. About 7 to 10 days later, the blister broke, and the old dead skin from the burn blister fell off, revealing the brand new, pink skin underneath.

That is kind of what the verse we are studying today is about. Getting rid of the old sinner, and becoming new in Christ.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Here is another example:

The growing season in Minnesota is short and when the frost comes it will destroy any non-cold resistant plants, especially tomato plants. So sometimes some of the tomatoes that were left unpicked when the frost came fall off, and they will get buried under the dirt when I till the garden. They are “dead.” But every spring I will find new small tomato plants that sprout back up where they were the year before. The old plant was dead, and something new rose back up in it’s place.

That is what happens when someone becomes a Christian. When someone accepts Christ as their Savior and is baptized, the old person and the carnal deeds that goes along with it “dies”, and they are raised back up a new person in Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit.

“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” Romans 8:10.

We are dead in our sins. Without Christ’s love and forgiveness we would not be able to receive everlasting life in Heaven. But because of His love, we can now be filled with the Spirit, and live. He forgives us of all of our sins, and fills us with the Holy Spirit.

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” Colossians 2:13

Just like when you have an old, broken down garage and you tear it down to the ground and get rid of it so that you can put a brand new one in its place, a person needs to tear down the old sinner that everyone without Christ is. We need to take our sinful past and get rid of it, so that we can build something new in its place. Through Christ we can become a new creature.

“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and the lusts.” Galatians 5:24

Mortify the deeds of sin. Come to Christ and be baptized, and become a new person living for Christ. Tear down that old sinner, and be raised back up, new in Christ.

In Christ,

Andrew

Likeminded

“Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” Philippians 2:2

These four things are nearly identical in definition. To be like minded, having the same love, of one accord, of one mind.

When something is “of one accord” it means that someone or something (as a group of people) does something all together or at the same time. Like an unanimous vote, all of the voters are in agreement and vote the same way.

One of the coolest things that I have seen is those birds (I believe they are starlings) that fly in a swarm through the sky. Just a big black mass of birds, maybe a couple hundred at a time. Left, right, up and down, they all are coordinated and together. You don’t see one or two pull out of the swarm and go off on their own, but they all stick together in their group and soar through the sky.

Our country is composed of 50 different states, but they are all united and together they form the United States of America. They are all together and are all under the law of the Constitution. Now if a state decided to secede, and become their own country, they would no longer be a part of the United States.

When we are of the same Spirit, we will be at peace with each other, and filled with love and joy.

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3

“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” Ephesians 4:13

In 1 Corinthians, Paul wrote to the church because he had heard that there were divisions going on. There were some in the church that were not in agreement with each other, and Paul was writing to correct that problem. He wanted them to be of the same Spirit.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by then which are of the house of Chloe,  that there are contentions among you.

Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

Is Christ devided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” 1 Corinthians 1:10-13

Look at all of the denominations of churches. You have Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Episcopalians, just to name a few. And why? Because they are not united under the Word of God. If they were of the same mind in the Spirit, they wouldn’t be divided. When the New Testament was still being written by the apostles, there weren’t different denominations. There were churches in different cities, but they were all united under the teachings of Christ, and they all believed the same things.

And that is what we all need to do. When we all of one mind, there will be no division in the church. There will be no fighting and strife.

It will be filled with love.

In Christ,

Andrew

No Experience

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we are going to take a look at some scripture from 1st Corinthians chapter 1 but before we do that I wanted to ask you a question.

If you were an employer and doing interviews for a job that you had available, what kind of person would you choose to fill that vacancy? There are many jobs that actually are available out in the world today, many of which demand a formal education, a college degree and even past experience. Unless you possess some of these qualities they do not even want to interview you. A lot of employers demand certain skills that you have to have before they even look at you. They desire a resume of your past work experience and even in some cases private experiences as well. I’m sure a lot of you can relate with this but I want you to think about this today.

The Lord Jesus Christ who is the God of glory, who created the heavens and the Earth, picked out men to minister and preach the gospel who were simple common everyday men, they were fishermen.

They were not pre-trained professional speakers and had no resumes or formal training. They didn’t have doctor of divinity degrees or come from some school or college somewhere were they had been religiously educated. They didn’t have plaques on the walls or diplomas. God picked a group of fishermen to be his disciples and apostles and to eventually lead His church. They were simple ordinary men who God chose out of the world. Remember they were not chosen for their righteousness or goodness. They weren’t picked because they had a good background check, they were not chosen because their were upstanding citizens in the community.

Jesus approached them and said come follow me, and that’s exactly what they did. There were no questions asked. There were no interviews involved just a few simple words, come follow me and Jesus educated them all in the teachings of the gospel.

These men understood the simple fact, more than a lot of people in this world, that they were sinners who were in need of God’s forgiveness and Grace. God chooses the base things of this world.

1 Cor 1:26-29

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

First of all, a calling is defined in the dictionary as a strong urge toward a particular way of life, career or vocation.

Ephesians 4:1 – I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,…..

The Apostle teaches that not many wise men after the flesh are called by God.

The word wise means having or showing experience knowledge and good judgment. Who does God choose to lead the church? They are people who accept the fact that they are sinners who have come short of the glory of God.

Even Peter who the Lord Jesus picked as an Apostle to lead the church admitted the fact that he was a sinful man. On the other hand there were many religious leaders of the day who couldn’t accept that fact about themselves in their own hearts.

Having a degree from a college somewhere and being filled up with fleshy earthly wisdom it’s not required by God. Remember all the wisdom that you could ever attain while here on this Earth is going to be gone and forgotten because the Earth and everything in it is going to be gone. The Apostle taught that everything was going to be dissolved along with all the works that are in it. Any Earthly or fleshy wisdom that you can attain is not a prerequisite to be called by God. That kind of wisdom is completely unimportant to Him.

He says that not many mighty are called by God.

Mighty means having or possessing great power and strength. Many times you might think of it as being a mighty conqueror or somebody who has a lot of abilities. It always reminds me of the story of David and Goliath. God chose a young man with a sling and some stones to overthrow an entire Army.

He also says that not many noble are called by God. A noble is somebody who has high morals or ideals here upon the Earth. Remember there are none righteous no not one. God chooses the foolish things of the world.

A foolish person lacks good sense or judgment. They are unwise.

Imagine running a huge company filled with thousands upon thousands of employees and you desire to pick somebody to manage it. Imagine walking down the back streets and alleys maybe in the middle of night and picking someone to run your company. All that’s required is when you walk by them to tell them come follow me. That’s what the Lord Jesus does for us. He picks the people that to the rest of society appear foolish and weak. They appear ignorant and dumb. Then some people get upset saying why would you choose this person when I have all these experiences and degrees. In the Christian faith this is exactly the reason why he does it. He does it to confound the things which are wise,(in their own eyes)

God chooses the base things of this world. The old definition for this word means vile and worthless. Do you know what the word vile means? It means morally bad and wicked. It is of little worth or value. It is wretchedly bad and sinful. The first step to take if you’re going to begin the Christian life is to accept the fact that we are all sinners who are in the same boat together.

Luke 5:30-32

30 But the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

The Apostle Paul who God used to write a lot of the New Testament that we have today was previously destroying churches. He later explained to the church that he was the chief of sinners. He got forgiven with God and became a Christian. Through God’s grace he helped start many churches later in his life.

God chooses things that are despised in this world. If you despise something or someone you have a very low opinion of them. It means to dislike them intensely or to loathe.

The disciples and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ chose spiritual riches over the wealth of this world. Jesus taught the poor of this world are rich in faith, but they are despised in the eyes of the world.

Prov 14:20 “The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.”

James 2:6

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

Our blessed Lord Jesus was despised while here upon this Earth.

Isaiah 53:3-4

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

The apostles chosen by God were despised by the world

1 Cor 4:9-10

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

God will choose the lowest things on this Earth, things that are hated by this world to bring to nothing those who seem that they are something.

1 Cor 3:19

.19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

At Judgment Day nobody will be able to glory in God’s presence because it is by God’s grace that we are saved. God takes poor wretched sinners and through his forgiveness and mercy in Christ, transforms them into obedient faithful men.

The world sees them as foolish and ignorant, but the Lord pours His truth inside of their hearts for all the world to see, that God can do a lot with a sinner.

Have you recognized that fact about yourself yet? It’s just a matter of admitting the truth of what we really are.

Let’s think about those things for today and Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow till then bye-bye everybody♥️

Forgive. One. Another.

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

“Wake up, wake up!”

John opened his eyes. The sun was just starting to creep up over the horizon. Not a cloud in the sky. The weather was expected to be in the mid to upper 60’s, and it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day.

He sat up on the edge of his bed. Nearing his 43rd birthday, John had finally gotten to a point in his life where he had all of his bills and loans paid off. No more worrying about where he was going to find enough money to pay the light bill. No more digging through cupholders to try to find spare change for a cup of coffee. Things were finally starting to look good.

He had a good paying job that he enjoyed, most of the time. Near the end of the week he looked forward to the weekend like most others, but it was a good job. With all of his loans paid off, he could finally start to get a few nicer things. He recently had purchased a couple of atv’s to go out riding with his son, who had just turned 16. Work had kept him away from home a little longer than usual, so this weekend would be the first time they would get to take them out for a ride.

“Dad, wake up! Let’s get going!”

“Just a minute! I’m getting dressed, so go pack a few things to eat.”

Last night they had picked out a place to ride. It was a beautiful area with streams and hills, filled with wildlife. And it was only a short drive away, so it wouldn’t take long to get there.

Grabbing his keys and locking the house, they were ready to go. He checked the straps holding the atv’s to the trailer to make sure they were tight and after a quick stop at the gas station to top off the gas tanks, they were on their way.

Arriving at their destination, John backed the atv’s off the trailer, stored all of their food and water into some packs, and off they went.

After an hour, they found a nice place to take a break. The area they were in was a rather hilly area, so it was also a popular hiking area as well, so there were a couple of picnic tables for people to rest on.

“Let’s take a fifteen minute break here, and then we can go and ride some more,” John told his son. “Bring the food from your pack, and put it on the tables, OK? I lost my sunglasses just over the hill. I think a tree branch knocked them off my hat, I’ll be back in a minute. We’ll just park over there, by the edge of the hill.”

John’s legs were slightly stiff, so the short walk to get his glasses would feel good. It took a few minutes, but he eventually located them. Wiping the dust off, he turned back to his son. But when he turned around, he felt a chill go through him, because where there had been two atv’s, now there was only one. His son was still busy unpacking the snacks, so he hadn’t ridden off without him, so where was it?

He took two steps, and then he heard a noise that made him shudder inside. The sound of plastic cracking, and metal grinding against stone. His son heard the noise at the same time and turned around and looked where it was coming from, and froze.

A few moments later John stood at the edge of the hill with his son, and what he saw confirmed what he already knew in his mind. Down at the bottom the hill was the other atv, completely destroyed.

A minute of silence ensued as it sunk in, until John quietly asked his son, “Did you put the brake on like I showed you the other day when we loaded them onto the trailer?”

His eyes downcast, his son took a moment to answer. “No, I forgot. And I know it’s too late to reverse what happened, but I am sorry.”

Just as he opened his mouth to scold his son, John immediately closed it, and remained quiet, because it was at that moment that he remembered something that had happened to him many, many years ago when he was a young man. When he had turned 16, he got his drivers license and his dad had let him drive the family car to go get something from the store. It had been snowing the past few days, but the storm finally had passed so his dad let him go by himself. His dad just gave him a warning to watch out for spots of ice on the road.

The thrill of driving was still new to young John, so he was excited. He carefully made it to town without incident and got the things he needed, and headed back towards home. Feeling confident in his driving skills, he took his eyes off the road for a moment to grab a snack from the backseat. It was at that moment, when he turned slightly to reach behind him, that he slightly jerked on the steering wheel and the car started to slide. Immediately panicking, he jerked the wheel the other way, and stomped on the brakes, putting the entire car into a spin, and into a telephone pole.

John didn’t remember much else about that accident, but he did remember vividly walking home to face his dad and tell him what happened. His dad listened to what happened, remaining silent and obviously disappointed. Apologizing, John sat down on the couch, and fearfully waited to hear his punishment.

Letting out a deep sigh, John’s dad said, “Come here.” Eyes downcast, John rose up from the couch and stood in front of his dad, eyes closed and expecting the worst. But instead what he felt was a warm, gentle embrace and the words,

“I forgive you.”

This memory flooded back to John as he looked down at the heap that was one of his atv’s. Turning to look at his son, he saw himself, many years ago.

“Come here,” he told his son. Nervously, his son came over, not wanting to look him in the eyes and stood silently. Gently wrapping his arms around his son, John said the words,

“I forgive you.”

This story illustrates the verse that we are studying today. The word forgive means to stop feeling anger, resentment, or vengeance towards someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake. It is to pardon someone or grant remission.

If a person sins or commits an offense toward someone, and feels sorry about what they did and repents, the person who has had the wrong done to them needs to forgive the offending party.

Peter asked Jesus about forgiveness in Matthew 18.

Matthew 18:21-22, “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

The basic point of this verse is that we need to continually forgive others when they come forward and repent of their sins. They might sin against you every day, or twice a day, but if they are sorry and repentant of their actions, we are required to forgive them.

The reason why is because that is what God the Father does for us, and everyone else in the entire world. That is what He did for Paul, Peter, John, and all of the other apostles. He forgives the man in jail who used to rob banks, and that man realizes that what he did was wrong and he comes to God asking for forgiveness for his past deeds. God forgives those who were once filled up with pride and arrogance, feeling that they were better than everyone else, but now they have changed, and are filled with meekness and humility and put the needs of others before their own.

God is waiting to forgive. He wants to forgive. What needs to happen first though is a repentant heart, and a willing mind to change.

And that brings us back to the verse at the very start of this study. Forgiving others as God has forgiven us. It may be difficult sometimes, but when someone asks to be forgiven, it is commanded that we forgive them.

Because that person who wronged you was you at one point. At some point in your life, you came to God seeking forgiveness. What if when you asked God for forgiveness He said, “No, I don’t think I will forgive you.” How would you be able to attain everlasting life in Heaven? Since there is no sin in Heaven, we need to have those sins taken away? But if God didn’t forgive us, how would we get there?

But that is not what God says to us. He has an abundance of mercy and forgiveness. And so should we.

Forgive each other, as God has forgiven you. Don’t deny someone forgiveness, because I can guarantee you that when you stand before God at Judgement Day, you don’t want to be turned away, all because you didn’t forgive someone else.

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 5:14-15

Forgive. One. Another.

In Christ,

Andrew
