The Faithfilled Marriage

Good morning and welcome today.. Today we’re going to take a look at some scripture from Mark 10 and we’re going to talk about the union of marriage in the eyes of God.

Marriage is created by God. Because God is eternal, marriage is an unbreakable union between a man and his wife. God is love and true charity never fails, neither should a marriage. Divorcing a spouse is forbidden if you profess to be Christian. Divorce is turning away from what God has brought together and refusing to love and show mercy to your spouse as Christ commands us.

There’s only one reason why divorce happens, it’s because of a hard-hearted person who turns off the light switch of love. There are millions of conservative Christians who believe the same way that I do.

Christian marriage is supposed to be an example to the world of love and committment. No matter what storms arise, you stay together. No matter what problems you may have to endure, you stay together. No matter what happens, you stay together. When unbelievers see that commitment it can Inspire hope in them. They are looking at a Christian marriage and watching to see God’s love within it.

Can you imagine being out on an old sailing ship a couple hundred years ago when a serious storm started to develop on the horizon. Instead of having faithful and loyal sailors, they all chose to abandon ship. It’s like the old saying, fair weather friends. They are with you as long as it’s smooth sailing but they abandon you during bad times.

I thank God that Jesus Christ is not like that. No matter what we go through He says I will never leave you nor forsake you. He remains by our side even when a spouse doesn’t.

Moses suffered a bill of divorcement but it was only because of the hardness of people’s hearts. (Remember that was in Judaism not Christianity.) It was allowed only because of peoples refusal to love their spouse and to forgive and to forget offenses that they may have committed.

Marriage is like an unfinished painting. Each day there are things to touch up and work on. A lasting marriage requires charity, forgiveness and mercy toward the one that you chose to be with the rest of your life. I liken divorce to walking off on the church and Christ Jesus, its that serious of an issue. Divorce is forbidden because when a man and a woman are joined together it is by God and will last until death do you part.

Man is not supposed to separate what God has brought together. Divorce according to Earthly law is not recognized in the true church or before God because in Gods eyes they still remain married.

Mark 10

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Divorce is in complete opposition to God’s intention for a marriage. Some people claim that divorce is a good thing, but there is nothing good in separating what the God of love has brought together, it’s only rebellion against His purpose and desire for marriage.

Divorce only shows one’s intention to completely go against the will of God in Christ and reveals the lack of love in their heart. God is Not mocked whatever you sow that is what you’re going to reap. Because divorce is a step onto the wide road of sinful living, life will not get better, but get progressively worse.

God’s word teaches us to be merciful and forgiving with each other. If you cannot forgive a spouse to whom you are married, God is not going to forgive you of your sins either. That is a guarantee from the scriptures.

Sadly each week people get divorced in this world but you have to remember that in the Christian faith a man and a woman are joined together in an unbreakable union by God. There is spiritual law and there is Earthly law. Even though people may divorce according to earthly law, Gods spiritual law teaches that a woman belongs to her husband as long as he liveth. It doesn’t matter if she got divorced in the courtroom somewhere because she is still married in God’s eyes. As a professing christian, she is bound to the law of her husband, not to earthly law.

This is why if she gets divorced and remarried she’s committing perpetual adultery each day against her husband. It doesn’t matter about Earthly law, it matters about Gods law. The only thing that that can loosen the law of a husband over a wife is death.

Rom 7:2-3 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress:..

In the past, all of us have come short of the glory of God and have make mistakes. When you become submerged in water and baptized according to the scriptures you can begin a new life in Christ Jesus and your past is forgiven. As a born-again believer you cannot return to the past and divorce and get remarried again because unlike other sins you may commit, divorce and remarriage is a perpetual daily sin. I am not alone in this belief because millions of people believe exactly the same way I do.

A hard heart is the result of somebody in a marriage who does not want to forgive an offending spouse or remain loyal to their commitment.

Divorce is the exact opposite of Christian charity commanded by Christ. It is an act of hatred. It is the exact opposite of loyalty to the one that you chose to remain with the rest of your life.

In a Christian marriage the woman represents the church and the husband represents Christ in the home. When a wife chooses to divorce her husband she’s also divorcing the things of Christ and disobeying Him. When she rebels against her husband in such a way, she’s usurping his authority in the home and also resisting the ordinance of God. The husband is the place of authority in the home, and she needs to submit and obey him in everything.

In a marriage a man and wife become one flesh. Divorce is a separating what God has brought together. That is forbidden by Christ. A woman is not supposed to leave her husband or separate from him because when she does she violates the command of the Lord Jesus Christ. If she violates Christ’s command she needs to be unmarried or reconciled to her husband. This provision is so that she can recover herself from her sinful condition and return back home. Moses gave the provision of a letter of divorce not because it was okay or even acceptable. It was written for those who refuse to love.

The end of the Commandment is love out of a pure heart. If you truly love your spouse, you will remain by their side through thick and thin and love each other in sickness and in health or anything else that comes up in your lives together. Be an example of Christ’s love in your marriage for all the world to see.

I think that’s what I’m going to stop for right now but Lord willing, we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye-bye everybody.♥️
