Good morning and welcome in everyone. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from the book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 10 ²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, ²⁷ But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Willful sin completely demolishes the Christian Life. When somebody is willful, they have a stubborn and determined intention to do whatever they want to do, regardless of the consequences that happen in the future. They do things deliberately and purposefully, refusing to hearken to the council of one’s authority. They turn their ears away from the truth and do exactly what they want to do, rather than what they should do. Willful means deliberate, done on purpose, premeditated, and planned in advance. Many of you have had wives who have done this to you. Satan filled the heart of Judas who did the exact same thing when he betrayed Christ.
Matthew 26 ¹⁵ And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Some wives who were educated in the Christian Life, will eventually turn away from Christ. She will betray her own husband in full knowledge that it goes in complete contravention to the teachings of Jesus. Many times she will join up with her wicked relatives, who aid and assist her in her evil deed against Christ. Rather than rebuking her and telling her to go back home, they fellowship with her wicked works. The sin that she commits, they become partakers of, and are just as guilty as the person who drives the car when their buddies rob a bank. All of them are in a state of rebellion against Christ. It’s like a child who rebels against their own parents and slams their bedroom door. Although they know what they are supposed to do, they do exactly what they want to do, no matter what the consequences.
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry….. 1 Samuel 15:23
Many Christian women will do this to their husband and enter into the wrath of God. He hates willful rebellion and He will avenge and punish that behavior. His perfect Justice dictates His righteous anger. I’d be a liar if I said anything else. People have two choices, either submit, or rebel. One will be blessed by God, the other will be cursed.
Ephesians 5 ²² Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
If you describe someone as wilful, you mean that they are determined to do whatever they want to do, even if it is not sensible. Sometimes you might correct your children, but they are so rebellious and disobedient that they run away from home. A willful wife can be filled with the same type of behavior. Like a rebellious and disobedient child, she refuses to hearken to the correction of their own husband. Many of you men have had this happen to you and can understand what I’m saying. These willful wives will stomp their feet, slam the door and walk out of your life. In doing so, they slam the door on Christ Jesus. After all, they are in wilful violation of His commandments. There’s not much that we can do about it, because a Christian man is called to peace, and we are to let them go. We are not supposed to resist evil. We can rebuke and reprimand it severely, but beyond that, God will take care of their punishment soon enough. When a professing Christian woman chooses this path of rebellion, she comes under God’s wrath at that point. He will certainly avenge her rebellion against her husband. She has proved herself unworthy of Christ and her own spouse. This is why many of these women get involved with false religions after this.
Any woman who might read this, I beg you for Christ’s sake, never leave your husband. Support them, help them, and pray for them. God is calling for you to stand by his side no matter what storms may arise in the future. It is absolutely forbidden to usurp his leadership in the home. To do so is to forsake Christ. For heaven’s sake don’t leave! Many men, even unbelieving men can be won to Christ by a loyal, and obedient wife. It goes beyond making a meal for them. It goes beyond darning their socks. Do the things that he commands you to do, and watch what happens! Obedience goes a long way towards a good relationship with a husband. Take Christ Jesus as our example who is perfectly obedient to the Heavenly Father, so should the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
A woman who has been educated in Scripture, is no longer ignorant of the will of God. When she departs her husband, she purposely and willfully rejects the teachings of Christ. Women like this have no fear of God, which is exactly why he will punish them. Be forewarned that these wicked rebellious traits can be handed down from grandmother, to mother, to daughter, as they rejoice in their wickedness together. Be not partakers with them.
“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:32
I tend to not get too attached to people who commit such deeds. The reason why is because they are damned already, being condemned of themselves.
“Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.” 1 Timothy 5:12
In this world there are three distinct groups of people. There are complete unbelievers,… there are people who are striving to obey the gospel of Christ,…and there are others who have rebelled against Jesus and are already damned. When somebody becomes a Christian, there is no turning back. When a wife marries her husband, the same also is true. I guarantee you that you never want to share friendship with a woman who has left her husband. To do so is to become partaker of her sins, partners in her rebellion, and permissive of her insubordination. Keep your distance, and make sure that you steer clear of…..
