Clothed in Modesty

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from first Timothy.

1 Timothy 2:9-10 (KJB)  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

When women are baptized into the Christian faith, they need to dress in a completely new manner. Growing up and living in the world, generally you are going to dress the way the world does, but that’s all got to change. A woman must dress modestly, which means that she’s not going to draw attention to herself in the clothing that she wears. I really believe that they should wear formless dresses, ones that do not accentuate their physical appearances. Nowadays, with the workout craze, many women like to get into shape physically, but then they wear extremely tight clothing in public to display their body to others. Oftentimes they will wear less clothing while out jogging or exercising then they did in the bedroom 100 years ago. Granted, I understand when women who are complete unbelievers live like this, but a Christian woman is not supposed to be eye-candy for the world.

A woman is supposed to be shamefaced, which basically means to be bashful and shy in the clothing that she chooses to wear. Think about all of the dresses.that they wore out on the homesteads during the mid 1800, many of which were simple and modest. The display of sexuality is something that is meant for the privacy of your own bedroom with your husband, and when women dress in immodest clothing, it can make a husband very upset with you, because you belong to him. In a Christian marriage, your body belongs to your husband and is.not to be displayed in a sexual manner to the world.

1 Corinthians 7:4 (KJB)  The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

I feel it’s best if women wear a pretty long dress down to their ankles, where you really can’t determine or be drawn to her physical shape. Many schools used to have dress codes for girls, but today we are learning about God’s dress code for Christian women. Modesty! Women must not be a stumbling block to men. What I mean by that is there are a lot of people who have been caught up in fornication, adultery, or even gone to prison for rape or other forms of sexual deviance. Men must repent of these wicked behaviors, but at the same time, women must certainly not encourage it by what they wear. Everyone has their own weaknesses, and if you wouldn’t give a drink to an alcoholic, then women shouldn’t be provoking desires in a man’s flesh. A woman must be meek and submissive to men, and of a quiet and teachable disposition.

1 Peter 3:3-5 (KJB)  Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Not only should women dress modestly, but they must wear a head covering whenever they pray or prophesy. This is to openly display the chain of command in the sight of God. Women must be in submission to men, and covering the head while they pray or prophesy is an outward display of submission to men, who were created in the image of God.

1 Corinthians 11:3-10 (KJB)  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

She doesn’t have to wear a head covering all of the time, but if she is praying or prophesying then it is a must. I’ve been hated by many people for the last 25 years because I’ve been preaching that women are forbidden to teach and to preach God’s Holy Word. Prophesying is not preaching and teaching scripture. Please listen closely, those of you who want to inherit eternal life. Prophesying is not preaching and teaching scripture, it is to predict future events by the inspiration of God. If a mother tells her daughter that she is going to grow up into a submissive wife, that is called prophecy because you are predicting future events. Women are also forbidden from prophesying over men because that is disorderly. Jesus never called a single woman to preach, and you know why that is? Because he forbids it, as will any man who claims to be Spiritual.

1 Timothy 2:11-12 (KJB)  Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Women teaching in any capacity for women is forbidden in the Christian Life, and is one of the greatest heresies of our day. This is because it is put forth by numerous false prophets who Jesus warned would appear shortly before His return. Nowadays they are even ordaining women, making them two-fold more the child of hell than themselves. It is men who have been charged with instructing others, not only in the church but in society as well. Women prove their meekness and submission to the will of God by submitting to the instruction of men. Remember that a woman doesn’t need to go and find a head covering if she already has long hair.

1 Corinthians 11:15 (KJB)  But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

A lot of women will put their hair up during certain times of the day, but they must cover their head or let their hair down if they are involved with the aforementioned activities. If she doesn’t want to let her hair down, that’s permissible as long as she covers her head with something acceptable. Covering the head is an outward show of submission and humility in the sight of God and men. Like putting on warm clothes on a cold winter day, a Christian woman must learn to cover up in public, submitting to the will of God, and being……
