Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
For many years people have tried to come up with some type of machine that doesn’t require any kind of power or input to keep it going. Many people claim that it violates the laws of thermodynamics, and that you cannot produce perpetual energy out of nothing.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Perpetual is defined as continuing forever, never ending or never ceasing to continue. Some similar words are, without end, permanent and imperishable. There are many things in this world that might seem like they are a perpetual source of energy, like a large river flowing gently into the sea, or the Earth as it travels around the Sun, but all these things are temporary forms of motion because eventually they will cease to exist. But God is creating a new Heaven and a new Earth to replace the ones that are fading away, and He is doing so by His own limitless power, and a perpetual motion that never ends.
2 Peter 3:10-14 (KJB) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Many people actually believe that the world and the entire universe is going to remain here forever, but those who believe in the Scriptures understand that this really isn’t the case. Everything that we see is temporary, and will only last for a certain amount of time, because everything is going to come to an abrupt end, and will be burned up with fervent heat.
Revelation 21:1 (KJB) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Matthew 24:35 (KJB) Heaven and earth shall pass away,…….
All of the kingdoms of this world will eventually perish, but the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ is perpetual, and like Himself, it will be an everlasting country that will never fade away
2 Peter 1:10-11 (KJB) Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Even the Lord Jesus explained to His disciples that He was preparing a new place for them to dwell in the future.
John 14:2-3 (KJB) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
All of the wealth and possessions of this world are corruptible, and will perish along with the rest of the Earth. But those who serve and obey Christ in this world are waiting for an inheritance in the future, one that will be given to them in perpetuity.
1 Peter 1:3-4 (KJB) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Many people will purchase a brand new pickup, but after many years of use it will eventually start to fall apart. Somebody might cut and split a nice pile of firewood, but after sitting out in the elements, it will eventually rot and decompose. A mother might wind up the spring on a child’s rocking chair, but eventually it will come to a complete stop. Things in this world are temporary, and only last for a short period of time, but the things that are coming are eternal, an everlasting home in the heavens.
2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJB) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
But just as God is creating a new Earth to replace the old one, we will have new celestial bodies to replace these old ones. Corruption cannot inherit incorruption, so our bodies will have to be changed, by swapping them out with everlasting ones, which will be done in the twinkling of an eye.
1 Corinthians 15:50-54 (KJB) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Although many people claim that you cannot produce perpetual energy from nothing, that is only in this world, because God is a source of everlasting life, unending power and limitless energy, and in all respects, the true meaning behind,…….
……….Perpetual Motion
