Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from the book of 1 Timothy.
1 Timothy 2:12-13 (KJB) But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
Today we are going to take a close look at the word “usurp” from the dictionary, which is defined as taking over somebody else’s position of power or importance when it has not been granted unto them.
Let’s start with a couple examples.
Consider a soldier in the military who steps into the shoes of the general and begins making decisions that the general is supposed to be in charge of doing. If that were to happen, he would be lifting himself over the authority of the one who he is supposed to be in subjection to. Oftentimes this is referred to as mutiny or sedition, which normally results in being court-martialed. Another dictionary defines usurp as to take without the right to do so. Some similar words are to supplant, to take over, to overthrow, to remove, to oust, to step into the shoes of, or to deprive someone else of their position of authority.
Consider a wife for example, who refuses to abide in her marriage. If she has been baptized and even had Holy Communion, she is absolutely forbidden from leaving the marriage for any reason. If she chooses to do so, she is completely rejecting God’s calling for her to obey her husband in everything, and to submit herself to his authority and leadership. She is commanded by Christ Jesus not to depart the marriage for any reason.
A husband may make mistakes along the way, but so does a wife, but she should never break the chain of command because it defiles both her heart, and emotionally damages the hearts of precious children who had nothing to do with it at all. When she departs and wickedly takes a man’s children from his presence, she creates disorder and confusion in their hearts, and God is going to openly punish that behavior. To do this to children is child abuse in the eyes of God. Women departing a marriage is bad enough, but when children are involved, her sinful and wicked activities are compounded many times over. Women who walk off on their marriage should automatically lose rights to the children, which would make them think twice about what they are doing to these precious kids.
The duty of a wife is to point the children to their dad for leadership, but when she decides to run off and take them from his presence, she immediately places herself outside of the will of God. Once she fully commits herself to committing this wicked deed, she might accuse him of all kinds of different things in order to justify sinning against the will of God, and to obtain a divorce decree. But the truth is that she is a reprobate to the one true faith, and a disobedient woman who refuses to humble herself under the authority of her husband. This lack of humility is the result of pride in her heart, which is the main attribute of the devil.
Another point is that a marriage is both a contract and a commitment, which is actually no different than signing papers when you join the military. When a soldier chooses to run away from their duties, then they will be punished in military courts, but if a professing Christian woman chooses to run off on her marriage, she will be punished by the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because she willfully mocks the covenant of marriage, and becomes an infidel to the teachings of the one true faith.
When she leaves and then takes his children from his presence, she commits a wicked act of sedition by usurping both the commands of Christ, and the husband’s lawful place of authority in the home. The children who are involved are not responsible for the wicked deeds that she has done, because the evil that she has committed falls squarely upon her shoulders. When she leads the children away from her husband’s guidance and direction, there is no fear of God before her eyes, and because of this, the Lord Jesus is going to punish her. The husband is the ruler of his household and when a wife causes the children to follow her rather than him, it is an act of complete disorder, confusion and anarchy against the will of God. Committing to a marriage is a very serious thing, and you had better solemnly consider what you are doing before you do it.
Any woman who usurps over the authority of men sins against Christ Jesus, because it is man who has made in the image of God. Unbelieving women do this in the world all the time, and I can understand this because they are ignorant unbelievers. I don’t judge them, nor do I have any animosity towards them, because judgment is supposed to happen within the house of God. Jesus died for them on the cross, so hopefully they will believe in Him and repent. But a woman who professes Christ as her Lord is in completely different territory, because she comes under the judgments of Scripture and the authority of men in the church. Men were created by God to rule, and women were created to serve the men. This is the truth of the Christian faith, a message for which I have been hated for preaching over the last 25 years. But this is how far the world has become separated from the true teachings of the Christian Life. Many people have told me I’m too old fashioned and I need to get with the times, but its not that I’m old-fashioned, it’s just that they are heretics.
In this modern age, women will quickly claim equality with men, and even take charge of them in certain situations, but women were created to be helpers, not leaders. People who cannot understand this simple concept have no understanding of the teachings of Christ. Men who have put women into places of authority over other men are unspiritual false prophets, The church is not a democracy, it is run by Spirit-filled men who have the rule over women. God is a God of order, and if people cannot understand the authority that a man has over a woman, then they certainly are never going to understand submission to the authority of God. They won’t submit to an elder, they won’t submit to those who are over them in the Lord, they won’t submit to their masters according to the flesh, they won’t submit to biblical doctrine, and the list goes on and on and on.
Within the church setting amongst believers, the Apostle Paul put his foot down and did not suffer a woman to usurp over the authority of man. He also didn’t put up with them teaching, whether it was biblical doctrine or any other things. They were supposed to be a role model, rather than an instructor which is the role of man. Can you imagine a woman instructing the Apostle Peter? That sounds pathetic doesn’t it, yet take a good look at men who claim to have the Spirit of God and allow this to go on amongst them. These people are frauds, which is why we are surrounded by so much false Christianity today. Their gatherings are filled with disorder, chaos and rebellion. Take it from one who knows, because when I first became a believer, I went to quite a few of them before I eventually gave up. I finally understood why the Lord says, come out from among them and be separate. Don’t be deceived with them, because it’s going to get really bad, as many false prophets take over the world. Don’t be shocked when their groups become massive in size, because a little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump!
Remember that in the church, real Men of God don’t put up with women who do such things, nor will they choose women to be in a place of authority over other men. It is the visible evidence of rebellion against the Divine order of God. Jezebel will not submit to a man, nor will she put herself underneath his direction, because she is proud, arrogant and has become quite accustomed to……
