Thoughts of the Day 2/1/26

Morning

Psalms 108:1-3 (KJB)  O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

Praise is the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something, and each day we want to lift up songs of praise to the Lord and thank Him for all of the incredible things that He does. The list is unending of all of His accomplishments, and praise is the opportunity to bring unto Him our grateful hearts in remembrance of all that He does. Even though you might not be able to play an instrument, you can always lift up your voices, bringing Him a song of thanks for His loving kindness and tender mercies!

Evening

Romans 13:8-10 (KJB)  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

When somebody is filled up with “ill-will”, they will possess activities of malicious, cruel and unjust treatment towards others. Malicious people intentionally desire to cause harm and suffering to others, most often resulting from their own hatred and bitterness. To sin against people in such a manner is to sin against the gospel of Christ because charity is the end of the commandment. To truly love your neighbor as yourself, is to treat them in the same manner that you would want to be treated in the same situation. Would you want somebody stealing your things? Then don’t steal from them. But although we treat others in a charitable manner, don’t expect the same treatment in return. Consider our precious Lord Jesus who loved this sinful world by guiding them on the path to eternal life, but although Jesus wanted them to be saved, rather than receiving Him, He was hated and eventually crucified on the cross instead. Just remember that no matter how poorly others treat you, make sure that you always do what is right towards them, for in doing so, you are keeping the commandment of God, and He will bless you because of it.
