Morning
Matthew 3:5-8 (KJB) Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
One of the most important doctrines in the Christian Life is repentance, because as Jesus taught, people need to repent or they are going to perish. Baptism is a requirement of the Christian Life, but it is only the first step of many that will need to be taken in order to go through a complete transformation from a sinner into a Saint. There will be many people who have been baptized into the faith who are not going to enter into heaven, simply because they are no different than the Pharisees of old. They professed to be Christian, but their life never really changed, nor did they repent from dead works. The high calling of God is to turn from sin and bring forth fruit that is meet for repentance, renouncing the old sinful wretch that you once were, and becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus. People who do this are becoming pleasing unto God, and are taking great strides towards the salvation of their own souls.

Evening
Matthew 5:4 (KJB) Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
The Apostle James warned the church that they needed to humble themselves before God, and to turn their laughter into mourning. God doesn’t forgive everybody, especially those who are filled with arrogance and pride and refuse to repent of their sins. The Lord God will look upon those who are filled up with contrition and a broken heart in His sight. When they humble themselves in such a manner, they can find a place of forgiveness with Him, and will be comforted through His divine mercies.
