Thoughts of the Day 6/15/26

Morning

Romans 13:9-10 (KJB) For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

The end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and those who possess this Divine quality are not going to be doing evil to their neighbors. Someone who has “ill will” is filled up with malicious intent, which is to have a deep and deliberate desire to see somebody else suffer. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves, so if you wouldn’t appreciate someone treating you a certain way, then you shouldn’t be doing that to them. When you genuinely love others and treat them the same way that you would want to be treated, then you are walking in love towards them, and at the same time, fulfilling the law.

Evening

Romans 14:21-23 (KJB) It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

There are a lot of people in this world who cannot partake of certain things such as certain types of foods, alcohol, or even caffeine. Those are just to name a few. Some people have completely given these things up, for whatever the reasons. Some people in different religions have been educated many years not to eat certain things too. But as a Christian, we have many liberties, but you never want to do things around others that might make them stumble, or do something that they consider sinful in their own mind. In the church, it’s good to know the weaknesses of others, so we don’t partake of certain things around them. God has given us freely all things to enjoy and it’s a good thing when you don’t condemn yourself for privately enjoying them, but you never want to lead others into temptation or sin. This shows that you care about them, along with the state of their conscience towards God.
