Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we’re going to take a look at a passage of scripture but before we do that I wanted to tell you a little story.
Were you ever sent to your bedroom in order to do a time out? Have you ever been grounded for the weekend, because of something wrong that you did? Sometimes a dad will have to punish a child, in order to help them understand the wrongness of the deeds that they committed. When people become adults, many times they might have to go to jail or have to do a stretch in prison for the purposes of punishment, rehabilitation and correcting their behavior. Many people are familiar with Alcatraz, but there is another facility in Colorado known as the ADX Florence which apparently is the most secure facility in the country. A lot of people call it the Alcatraz of the Rockies, holding prisoners in extreme isolation, and confining them to their cells 23 hours a day.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
A lot of people won’t have to go to prison while here upon this Earth, but when their soul is resurrected after their death, many of them will be sent to an everlasting prison, a place where people will serve time forever. At that point they will wish that they had repented of their sins while they had the opportunity to do so, because the lock-up that awaits them will be a place where they will never see the light of day again.
John 5:28-29 (KJB) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Apparently from what I have read, they don’t mix policemen, judges, or other law enforcement people who have been convicted of crimes, with the general population in a correctional facility, simply because of the possibilities of retaliation from other inmates. But did you know that this is exactly what is coming in the future? Everyone who rejected the gift of forgiveness in Christ Jesus and refused to repent of their sins, are going to be thrown into everlasting punishment to serve time forever alongside all of the rest of the damned. There will be no special treatment when people are cast away from God’s sight, because they will all share the same housing in a place where the fire shall never be quenched. If that doesn’t put the fear of God in you, I don’t know what will.
God already loved us by sending His only begotten Son to die on the cross as a propitiation for our sins, but those who don’t love Christ Jesus enough to depart from iniquity will be damned forever. Love for Christ is proven by an obedient and faithful heart towards the doctrines of our faith, but those who refuse to submit to them are outside the love of the Heavenly Father.
John 14:21-24 (KJB) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
The amazing thing is that many people who are in prison today, will actually be in heaven later on. This is because that while they were serving their sentence, they sincerely repented, which is something that many people in the general public will never even bother to do. Rather than accepting their own wickedness, they will point the finger at everyone else who is incarcerated, talking about how terrible they are, while at the same time, they are filled up the hidden works of darkness. But one must remember that nothing is hidden from God, and if people are going to live like a wretch, whether they are sitting in prison or not, shall be punished as a wretch, because unless people repent of their sins, all of them will be cast into God’s everlasting supermax, with all of the rest of the impenitent.
Luke 13:1-5 (KJB) There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luke 18:9-14 (KJB) And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others. Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
So whether it’s an inmate in prison, a secretary in an office, or even a college student taking classes, everybody has sinned at one time or the other in the sight of God. Contrition and repentance from dead works is required by all if you want to inherit eternal life. So turn from your sins, and renounce the deeds of darkness, otherwise the consequences with God will be severe, when people are locked up in place of everlasting torment, a place so terrible that it cannot even be compared to, the……
