Thoughts of the day 7/19/26 am
Matthew 6:5-6 (KJB) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Have you ever done something in secret? Something done secretly is completely hidden from the view of others. Prayer is a very private matter, so private that the Lord wants us to go into the closet and shut the door. But with the rise of television and the internet, many people have turned prayer into a public display of their own religious hypocrisy. Like actors in a play, they desperately seek an audience, rather than seeking the audience of God alone. There is really only one reason for this type of behavior, they want to be seen by others as a religious person, rather than being obedient to the will of Christ Jesus. You will find them all over the world today, in huge public prayer rallies and events, which are an open display of their own religious vanity. But their sanctimonious behavior will not bring a reward from God, because their long public prayers only reveal that they will receive the greater damnation.

Matthew 7:24-27 (KJB) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Each of us is like a house, as the Apostle Peter described himself as a tabernacle. But when most people build a home, it needs to be built on a sure foundation which is done to ensure that it will continue standing through whatever weather it might have to endure. In the world that we are passing through, you are going to have to endure a lot of storms, but to make sure that we survive and eventually inherit eternal life, you must build your lives upon the teachings of Holy Scripture. They are a rock that cannot be moved, and no matter what suffering you have to deal with, no matter what your relatives put you through, no matter if people cast out your name as evil, they cannot move you away from the teachings of our faith. God knows His obedient sheep and will reward all of His faithful followers, but He will punish the insolent and plentifully reward the evildoers.
