Thoughts of the day 9/29/26 am

2 Timothy 4:10 (KJB) For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

Not everyone who begins the Christian Life is going to endure all the way to the end, because as we spoke about recently, Jesus explained in the parable of the sower that these kinds of things were going to happen. Although there were numerous disciples who were following the Lord, some of them eventually turned away from Him. Titus walked off on the Apostle Paul, and forsook the responsibilities that he had been called to, because his love for the things of this world became greater than a love for God. It can be disheartening to spend so much time helping others to grow in their faith, only to see them throw it all away, but you have got to expect that this is going to happen occasionally. Just remember that God does it for a reason, because He is removing the fruitless branches, in order for the other ones to become even more fruitful.

Thoughts of the day 9/29/26 pm

John 15:18-19 (KJB) If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

The Lord Jesus is the creator of Heaven and Earth, yet He was hated by the world that He was sent to save. When you become a follower of Christ, you are choosing sides, and this does not sit well in the hearts of those who you used to spend the majority of your day with. Becoming a Christian means developing new friendships with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Some people want friendships with everybody, but that is not going to happen if you choose to follow Christ. Just like a sports team, you are either on one side or the other. Like drawing a line in the sand, you must choose to come over to His side, and be ready to embrace the persecution and harassment that will inevitably come from your own relatives, family members, and past relationships in your life. Jesus called His disciples out from the world, so whose side are you on?
