Thoughts of the Day 11/2/26

Thoughts of the Day 11/2/26 am

Hebrews 10:36 (KJB) For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

How many times did your dad tell you that if you got all your chores done for the week, and were on your best behavior, that the following weekend he would take you to your favorite lake in order to go fishing? This was really exciting because you always caught a bunch every time you were there. But a promise entails a condition, because you need to keep your part of the bargain. The Lord promises to save us, but there are also certain conditions in order to obtain the promise. We must depart from iniquity, turn from sinful living and prove by our actions that we can do His will from our heart. Just like a dad who delivers on his promise, God will reward everyone with eternal life, who have chosen to walk in the light!

Thoughts of the Day 11/2/26 pm

James 2:21-24 (KJB) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Over the years, there have been many people who have taught that it is by faith “alone” by which we are saved, but that is a heretical teaching. This is because it requires works to justify that one truly has faith. Many people will quickly claim to believe in Jesus but that in and of itself is not enough to get any of us to heaven. It is by our faithful works of obedience to the will of God that actually proves that we possess faith. Faith is going to result in all kinds of different works, from repentance, transformation, getting baptized, departing from iniquity, preaching God’s Word, abiding in the Truth, freely giving to the work of God, taking part in Holy communion, obedience to the faith, being anointed for healing, daily prayer, worship, and so on and so forth. To be justified in the sight of God means that you must activate your faith, because without these types of works in your life, you never really had biblical faith in the first place. Faith produces results, and when your life is absent of them, faith is dead.
