God’s Infinite Mercy

Psalms 36:5-9  “Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”

Look up at the stars in the sky one night. How many can you count? Honestly we could try to count all of the stars, but the fact is that there are just so many stars in the universe that we simply couldn’t be able to come close to finding how many there are. They’re practically “infinite.”

What about the sand in the ocean, and on the beaches? How many grains of sand are there all together? Sure, people could try to estimate how many there are, but if you were forced to count each grain of sand one by one, how long would it take you? It’s kind of a ridiculous question because you just couldn’t be able to in your lifetime.

Like the grains of sand in the ocean God’s love and mercy is unending, it is limitless and lasts forever. You see, God knows that we are sinful creatures and that we will need a lot of forgiveness given to us so that we can continue trying to strive for and attain perfection. That is why Jesus came down from Heaven to save us. He came and has given us His infinite mercy and forgiveness.

Hebrews 4:16  “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we’re may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

He is always ready to forgive and show mercy to those who come to Him seeking for forgiveness.

What is something that everyone on Earth needs? Water. Besides oxygen, water is probably the largest need for the human body. On average, most humans should consume anywhere from a half to a whole gallon of water each day, multiplied by 365 days in a year, and the average life expectancy of 75 to 80 years (more or less) and you will roughly consume 29,000 gallons of water in your lifetime. God, in His infinite wisdom, has provided all of the water that the entire world will ever need, and it is something that we just do not run out of.

Jesus has provided us with water as well, but this kind of water is different. It is living water, as Jesus explained to the woman at the well in John 4, and when we ask the Lord for it He is willing and ready to give it, just like His mercy and love.

Ephesians 2:4-6  “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”

Our God is an amazing, merciful God. He is filled with infinite mercy and forgiveness, we just need to go and ask Him for it!

In Christ,

Andrew
