Matthew 7:21-23 (KJB) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
You could put a million dollars into the offering plate, but if you never sincerely repent of your sins, then its not going to matter on Judgment Day. You could be filled with all kinds of good works and deeds, but if you never sincerely repent of your sins, none of them are going to matter on Judgment Day. For thousands of years the message has never changed, and still rings true today. Repent or perish before it’s too late, because this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Evening
James 2:17 (KJB) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Would you leave for work in the morning wearing only one shoe? Most people wear both of them as we walk out the front door. Like a pair of shoes, the Christian Life also requires two things, faith and works. By faith alone was a concept that was taught by Martin Luther, and according to numerous sources that I have read, he said all kinds of terrible things about the Apostle James who was in the faith long before he was. I was never a Catholic, nor could be, but this is blatantly heretical, and will be the downfall of anyone whose opinions become greater in their own mind then the teachings of Scripture. We cannot be saved by works alone, which is something that many different religions are trying to do today. They are involved with good deeds or feeding the poor. Some of them are even trying to keep the law of the Old Testament, but unless they get baptized into the Christian Life they have no forgiveness with God. So in that sense, works cannot save us, apart from faith in Christ Jesus. But works show that God’s grace is present in our hearts.
Can you imagine if the Apostle Paul had lived his life by faith alone? We wouldn’t have most of the New Testament that we have today! Do you think he was trying to earn his way to heaven? What foolishness. The grace of God was working in him MIGHTLY! Faith without works is dead, so if you profess to believe in Jesus you better have a pattern of good works that prove to God that you are repenting from dead works, and bringing fourth fruit onto eternal life. Get busy doing some good things, because Jesus had so many of them that they could never be written down in all the books that have ever been written. Are you claiming to be His follower? Then where are your works?
