Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from the book of 2 corinthians.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJB) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
When cattle are yoked together, they are fastened side by side with each other and then connected to a load. When you are yoked, it is to be joined together, working closely alongside others in order to achieve the same goal. It’s often used to describe very close relationships, such as marriage, or even a business venture. But the unequal yoke is when the people who are involved hold greatly different viewpoints from the teachings of Holy Scripture. Granted, as we walk through this world, you are going to spend a certain amount of time talking to people when you run into the hardware store, or purchase some groceries. But to be yoked with others is greatly different than simply visiting with them. Peter and the other Apostles had an extremely close relationship with the Lord Jesus, and were joined up with Him in a very close bond. It was an ongoing, day by day union with each other, which is far beyond any casual type of relationship. You can determine if you are yoked up with others simply by adding up the amount of hours that you spend with certain people during the week.
One of the most damaging and dangerous things to do to one’s own soul is to get involved working alongside others who really have no fear of God, and do not believe in the teachings of scripture. It’s one thing to preach the gospel to others, but it’s quite another to be in an ongoing close relationship with them each day. Many people might claim to be a Christian, but you have to see if their life actually lines up with the teachings of God’s Holy Word. Sometimes people will offer you a lot of money if you come and work for them, but at the same time they really don’t believe in the Lord enough to submit to His will. At that point, you will have to decide for yourself if what you truly love is money, or if you love the Lord Jesus Christ enough to come out from among them and be separate.
When I first became a believer, I had to leave some very high paying jobs for this very reason. One of the worst things that you can do in your life is to surround yourself with others in a close and ongoing relationship, who really don’t believe in scripture enough to repent. They are not only outside of the will of God, but can also be an extremely bad influence in your life. In order to actually claim to be a child of God, you have to come out and be separate, because if you can’t do that, you really don’t love Jesus from the heart, and all you are doing is deceiving yourself.
…….for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
To fellowship means to share a friendly, close companionship and association with others. But you cannot share fellowship with others who have no desire to repent and submit themselves to the will of God.
Ephesians 5:8-13 (KJB) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
1 John 1:6-7 (KJB) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Communion is defined as having an intimate Spiritual connection with others, and being united together in Christian doctrine. A Christian is not supposed to be communing with those who claim to be Christian, but are impenitent infidels to the teachings of the one true faith. This is done all over the world today through ecumenism, which is a heretical and false teaching. Ecumenism is actually the exact opposite of the separation clause spoken of in our study passage.
There is a massive form of false Christianity that is spreading across the world today, and it will get steadily worse. It is an unclean thing, because they claim to be the chaste bride of Christ Jesus, but they are fornicating with the world. They have joined themselves up with others who are complete heretics and reprobate to the one true faith. They have even involved themselves with idolaters and false religions, something that Catholicism and others have done for many years. These groups are unclean and defiled, being led by people who are nothing more than wolves in sheep’s clothing. In order to be faithful to the Lord Jesus, you have to come out and be separate from these groups, because if anyone is going to make the claim that God is their Father, then this passage must be obeyed with a humble and sincere heart. This is one of the reasons why I raised all my children completely separated from the world, but as adults, that is a decision that each one of us will have to make on our own. Separate yourself from all of the false religion and opposition to Christ Jesus, so that you do not receive their plagues when they come upon them.
Revelation 18:3-5 (KJB) For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
So when you look around and people claim that Christianity is growing, you must understand that it’s only the manifestation of the unfaithful bride of Christ. Come out from among them, and be separate, and make sure that you keep plenty of distance from,……
