Morning
James 4:8-10 (KJB) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
When you possess contrition, you will be filled up with deep sorrow and guilt for the wrong things that you have committed. This is a quality that you must possess in order to sincerely repent of sin. The goal of a Christian is to become pleasing unto God, but to do this will first require becoming humble and broken in His presence. The wall of pride that surrounds the heart will have to be completely destroyed, in order to eventually free one’s soul from the chains that bind them.

Evening
1 Timothy 6:12 (KJB) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Like soldiers marching out to battle, Christians are called to fight the good fight of faith! But just as you would compete in a marathon, we must strive hard to win, so that we can eventually obtain the prize of eternal life. God grants us an incredible gift of mercy that is available in His precious Son Jesus, but we must use that Grace to become completely transformed into brand new creatures in Christ. Just as soldiers become heavily engaged on the front lines, we must become fully engaged in our faith, by resisting worldly temptations with the Sword of God’s Truth, and putting on the Armor of Light.
