Morning
Luke 9:26 (KJB) For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
When you are ashamed, you are embarrassed of something because you are afraid of being ridiculed for being associated with it. For example, sometimes a student in high school doesn’t want to sit by someone at the lunch table because if they do so, their friends are going to be upset and tease them for doing so. But one must remember that Jesus Christ is the creator of all things, and to be ashamed of Him and the teachings of Scripture is to be ashamed of our maker, and those who distance themselves from Him while on this Earth, will eventually find themselves distanced from Him for all of eternity.

Evening
Luke 9:59-62 (KJB) And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Jesus called out to men to preach the gospel, but for many of them, other things were far more important. To some it was their wives, their families, or even other matters concerning their own relatives. But there is nothing in this world that can take precedence over preaching and teaching God’s Holy Word. When the cares of this world or the concerns of earthly things become greater in one’s heart then attending to the Spiritual matters in Christ Jesus, then a man becomes unworthy of the kingdom of God. Jesus must always remain first in our lives, and everything else must take a backseat.
