Thoughts of the Day 6/3/26

Morning

Matthew 23:12 (KJB) And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

When somebody becomes filled up with pride, they will start to lift themselves over God and others, but God is not mocked, and every man is going to reap what they have sown. The more filled up with pride that one becomes, the more that they will resist the will of God, and the greater their fall is going to be. This is why we must seek humility in all things, being ready and willing to admit our own mistakes and shortcomings. Only when we possess this quality can we obtain the mercies and forgiveness of God, because He will lift up the broken of heart, and restore the minds of the meek.

Evening

Matthew 23:14 (KJB) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

There are many people who have entered into ministry for all the wrong reasons. Some of them want to wear fancy robes, or be noticed each time that they are out in public. Others want to stand up and speak in front of large crowds, or be a highly respected leader in their community. Some of them are no different than Judas, who are only involved because of the money, and are filled up with covetousness and greed. These people are pretentious, which actually comes from the word “pretend.” Consider an actor in a play, who pretends to be someone in front of the camera, but is really not that way in real life. To automatically assume that those who are leading churches today are sincere believers is to be completely naive. The devil and his angels are at the helm of a lot of false Christianity, and it will get steadily worse. These people are no different than the religious leaders of old; wolves that are dressed up in sheep’s clothing, who will certainly receive the greater damnation.
