Thoughts of the Day 5/23/26

Morning

Acts 26:19-20 (KJB) Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

To bring forth works that are meet for repentance, is to be involved doing things the show that you are sincerely sorry for the evil things that you have done in your past. Consider the Apostle Paul for example, who made great efforts to destroy the church and prevent its growth, but when he became a believer, he preached Jesus Christ and began starting Christian churches across the countryside. These works are essential to the Christian faith, because they prove the sincerity of your faith in Christ. If people are going to choose to repent of their sins, then they had better have some actions to back it up, because just as the Apostle James taught, faith without works is dead.

Evening

Romans 3:9-12 (KJB) What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Everybody has sinned at one time or another, but can we become righteous in the sight of God? Absolutely, it begins with all of our sins being washed away through faith in Christ Jesus, but continues on through transformation, mortification of the flesh and complete submission to the will of God. The Lord grants us forgiveness but it is for the purpose of becoming righteous in His sight. Be forewarned that whether somebody claims to be a Christian or not, if they are not going to walk according to God’s will and the teachings of scripture, then they will be cast away with all of the rest of the impenitent on the day of God’s judgment. Repent, and do what is right, and find favor and blessings from our precious Lord, and never cease to thank Him for the opportunity to do so.
