The Traffic Citation

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

Many times during this life, people will treat others differently than the next person. Consider a woman who is driving down the street one afternoon, but then she gets pulled over by a police officer for speeding. When he approaches the vehicle, he notices that she is an extremely attractive woman and dressed up in some very appealing clothing. But rather than giving her a ticket, he sheepishly gives her a warning instead and then lets her go. But later on that same afternoon, a young man got pulled over in the same place for speeding, but rather than showing him any mercy at all, the officer wrote him out an expensive ticket instead.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

Everywhere that you look in this world, you will find favoritism around every corner. People will treat others differently simply because of the way that they dress, their political party, or even by the amount of money that they make each year. But you can know for a fact that God does not play favorites, and He is going to treat everybody exactly alike. Those who do evil are going to be rewarded for the evil that they do, but those who abide in His will are going to reap both His favor and His blessings,

Acts 10:34-35 (KJB)  Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Just professing to believe in Jesus is not enough to get to heaven, although it is a part of it. Someday God is going to judge everybody whether they claim to be a Christian or not, and it all comes down to receiving God’s grace and the way that they have lived their lives while they were here upon the Earth. We are living in an age where modern false Christianity thinks that they cannot lose their salvation, but that is because they are spoiled children who are completely out of their minds. One of the reasons they have become like this is because they have opened up their hearts and their minds to false prophets and prophetesses who have caused them to believe a lie, and some of them God is going to destroy this year, just as in the days of Jeremiah the prophet.

Jeremiah 28:15-17 (KJB)  Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

If people are going to live like an impenitent wretch, then God will treat them as such, whether they claim to be Christian or not.

Romans 11:21-22 (KJB)  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

God does not show favoritism, and when we talk about having respect to persons, it has to do with showing partiality towards others. Consider an earthy courtroom for example, when a defendant is a close relative or family member of the prosecutor or a judge. Rather than treating him the same way that they would treat anybody else, they show him favoritism, even letting him off with probation, whereas if it was anybody else he would have probably done jail time. If they are going to show mercy to their own relatives, but not to others, then they sin against Christ Jesus.

Consider a dad who has tends to favor one specific son in the family, but when he does something wrong, rather than punishing him as he would any of the rest of his children, he completely lets him off the hook. If you are going to show mercy to one specific person or group of people, then you darn well had better be merciful with everybody else, otherwise you will be damned for your unmerciful heart. These types of things were going on in the church, something that the Apostle James absolutely condemned.

James 2:1-9 (KJB)  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

God does not play favorites, and He is going to treat everybody according to their works. If they are going to do what is evil to their neighbor, then they are going to be rewarded for the evil that they do, whether they profess to be a Christian or not.

Colossians 3:25 (KJB)  But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Romans 2:11 (KJB)  For there is no respect of persons with God.

Ephesians 6:9 (KJB)  And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Deuteronomy 10:17 (KJB)  For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

So be very careful about showing favoritism to people in this world, because God will judge everybody according to their works. It doesn’t matter if you are pretty, and it doesn’t matter who your parents are. If you are going to do evil towards others, then the Lord Jesus Christ will judge that accordingly, both here upon the Earth and at Judgment Day. Be forewarned that if you are going to show mercy, then you had better show it to everyone, rather than some pretty little woman, who manages to evade,…..
