Thoughts of the Day 6/18/26

Thoughts of the Day 6/18/26 am

1 Corinthians 15:9 (KJB) For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

One of the greatest forms of vanity in this world are men who feel that everybody needs to know who they are by attaching certain things to their name such as reverend, pastor, or Apostle. Although the Apostle Paul was walking in his calling, he didn’t even feel it was right for people to refer to him as one, simply because of the sinful things that he had done in his past. When Jesus came to the Earth they couldn’t even tell who he was when they came to take him in the garden. He wasn’t dressed up in any distinctive robes or any special attire that would differentiate him from anybody else in the world, and could only be identified by a kiss from his betrayer. That is called humility, a Divine quality that men of the flesh are completely void of. Our humble Lord Jesus is our example of how men of God must walk in this world. People who are wearing robes, clerics outfits, name tags, or any other identifying factors out in the world today are the most pretentious and vain people in the world, but this is what happens when the devil takes a hold of the church and leads the sheep of God astray. Many of the wolves who are leading them are so filled up with pride that they are not going to repent of what they are doing anyway. But the higher that they elevate themselves in the eyes of the world, the further that they condemn themselves to the abyss of everlasting fire. There are many prominent and decorated veterans who will refuse to wear their honors while out in public, simply because they understand what they did in the service was not about them, but about serving their country. Such is the Christian Life, because serving the will of God has nothing to do with what others perceive us to be, but what we truly are in our hearts, and blessed are all those who serve God in such a manner.

Thoughts of the Day 6/18/26 pm

1 Timothy 6:6-10 (KJB) But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Love is a very powerful emotion and what you love is what you are going to seek after with all of your heart. When you love God, you are going to be filled up with the riches of His Holy Word, but when you love the things of the world, you are going to be filled up with the treasures of this Earth. When you are content, it means that you are happy and satisfied with what you already have. God has already given us the things that we need to sustain ourselves, such as the water to drink, the air to breathe and our food to eat. Only sinful men will find that these are not enough, and will go searching hard after other things instead. But in this process, it only pulls them away from a close relationship with God, and the love that was meant to be directed towards Him, is focused on the things of this world instead. Such is the downfall of man, and the defilement of the human heart.
