Morning
1 John 2:1-2 (KJB) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
An advocate is a person who openly supports and pleads the cause of another, such as a defense lawyer who will speak on behalf of their client before a judge and a jury. The Christian life is about learning to go and sin no more, but if a man does sin, the Lord Jesus stands in the gap to plead our case with the Heavenly Father. Propitiation is the act of making up for the wrongs of another, in order to turn away their wrath, and regain their favor once again. The Lord Jesus gave Himself as an atonement for us all, and we can come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need. Praise God for His loving kindness and tender mercies!

Evening
1 John 2:5-6 (KJB) But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Everyday, God shows us how much that He loves us, and it can be easily seen through all of His handy work in His creation. He even sent His precious Son Jesus to lay down His own life as a sacrifice for our sins. But when we become a Christian, we must learn how to love God perfectly, which happens through our humble submission to His will. Jesus is our perfect example, who has always loved and obeyed the Heavenly Father. To abide means to follow or comply with something, and when we submit ourselves fully to the teachings of Scripture, it is the proof that we are loving God. Just as a wife is commanded to obey her husband in everything, the church is the bride of Christ, and we must prove our love to God through our faithful and obedient hearts.
