Thoughts of the Day 7/1/26

Morning

Romans 8:5-9 (KJB)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Carnal is a word that relates basically to the physical aspects of the body rather than spiritual or intellectual matters. Whatever you focus your mind on, is that which it will be focused upon. To be successful in the Christian life we must redirect our thinking habits, refocusing our thoughts upon good things, whatever those might be. We must shut off the trickle charger of the world and hook up to the Holy Spirit of God, filling up our hearts and minds with with a great desire to walk according to His will, and loading up our souls with loving and persuasive thoughts of Him.

Evening

Romans 12:17-19 (KJB)  Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

It’s extremely easy in the flesh to want to repay evil for evil, but the truth is that we must allow the Lord Jesus to pour out his wrath upon those who do evil toward us. Consider the pharaoh of Egypt who dealt with the same types of things when he resisted Moses. It is with great certainty that God will punish those who treat His servants wickedly, with sickness and plagues, and even their own death.
