Morning
1 Corinthians 9:24 (KJB) Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Think of all the runners that enter into a marathon and as soon as the starting gun sounds, all of them are off and running. Many of the contestants strive hard so that they can eventually get the prize of first place, and one must always remember that there will only be one person who is given that award. The Christian Life is very much like a race, and it is one that we must put forth our very best efforts, and run hard to win.

Evening
Luke 17:3-4 (KJB) Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Obviously the Lord taught that we are supposed to go and sin no more, which is the goal of the Christian Life, but as a christian, we are supposed to be very merciful with others, because God has been very merciful toward us. Like a child learning to ride a bicycle, sometimes it takes us a while to learn how to walk in the faith. The Apostle Peter grievously sinned against the Lord, but because Jesus is omniscient, He knew how bitterly that Peter had wept about what he had done. Jesus completely restored him to Apostleship, showing an incredible act of mercy from our precious Lord God. Before receiving mercy from God or others, confession of sins must first take place, because only when you acknowledge your sins to others, can they begin to pray for you, (because they become aware of them obviously). The prayer of a righteous man availeth much, but you must first openly confess your faults to them, just as they did with John the Baptist. Before God can completely wash sin away, confession must take place because it is the path to absolution with God. So heed my words, and humble yourself in the sight of God, for through confession, you shall find His mercy, and He shall lift you up!
