Thoughts of the Day 8/5/26 am

Titus 2:15 (KJB) These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Just as a man is the authority over his own household, men who are preaching God’s Word to the church are over them in the Lord, and have been given the ability to rebuke and to correct if it is required. Sometimes people don’t like the authority that they were granted by Christ Jesus over them, but nonetheless, they have been charged as under-shepherds of the Lord to guide the sheep of God in the right direction. Granted, sometimes correction is not required, just like in the Philippians Church who were praised for their obedience to God, but if there is wickedness going on among them, it must be rebuked, not only for the souls of the church, but also to be faithful and obedient to the will of God

Hebrews 2:1-3 (KJB) Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Neglect means to fail to give the proper attention to something because of one’s carelessness, forgetfulness, or laziness. The Apostle James warned the church not to be forgetful hearers, but rather doers of the Word. But many people who profess the Christian Life will not enter into eternity, simply because they completely ignored and disregarded the teachings of the Christian faith. As the Bible teaches, they are twice dead, and are condemned of themselves. Hearing the Word of God preached is only part of the equation, because the other part requires following instructions and submitting to God’s purpose for your life. You must always pay close attention to the things that you have learned, and never allow yourself to fall onto the path of disobedience.
