Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
We used to play a little game in our home which required digging out some pens and paper along with the household dictionary. The way that you played this game was by looking up the definition of an obscure word that was completely unfamiliar to everyone else around the kitchen table. The leader knew the real definition,and would write it down while everybody else would come up with a fake definition for the word. Then they would be collected into a bucket and he would begin to read them aloud, as the rest of the players would vote for the definition that they thought was the correct one. Points were awarded by choosing the correct answer, or deceiving the other players to pick the wrong answer, and because of this, most of the answers were complete fictional.fabrications
This reminds me to Christian Life
There are innumerable false prophets running around the world today who are leading people astray from the genuine teachings of Scripture. Those who take heed and pay close attention to what they say will only be deceived by them, and and find themselves playing a game of fictionary.
Ephesians 4:14 (KJB) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
Jesus warned about false prophets, and this world is completely surrounded by them. They are like thousands of fish that are swimming around in a large school, that can easily be viewed from a helicopter above. They are like watching thousands of ants, as they work steadily on their ant pile. They are like a giant swarm of locusts that blackens the sky as they fly over a desert out in Africa.
Matthew 24:11 (KJB) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJB) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
God wants us to go on unto maturity, so that we can readily identify all of the false doctrines that are out in the world today. The Apostle warns us to be on our guard, and to be well rooted in the teachings of our faith.
Colossians 2:1-8 (KJB) For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
We are supposed to diligently seek after the wisdom of God, so we can quickly discern between Truth and lies.
James 1:5-7 (KJB) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 14:20 (KJB) Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
We need to be filled up with the strong meat of God’s Holy Word
Hebrews 5:11-14 (KJB) Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Romans 16:17-20 (KJB) Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
There are going to be many people who eventually turn their ears away from the teachings of Scripture.
2 Timothy 4:1-4 (KJB) I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
So be careful and pay close attention, because this world is filled up with plenty of seducers and deceivers, so incline your hearts and your minds to the knowledge of God’s Holy Word. Then you will be able to discern who the frauds really are, because the only game that they are playing, is just another round of,……
