Ephesians 5:9-10 (KJB) (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
Were you ever in phy-ed and the instructor told you that you that in order to pass the course you needed to be able to do 50 push-ups? Perhaps you explained to him that you could do that, but he told you to get down on your stomach and prove it. When you prove something, you are showing by your actions that you can actually do something. Many people might profess to be a Christian, but in order to obtain eternal life is going to require much more than just lip-service. We must become doers of the word, and prove to the Lord that we can walk according to His will, and humbly submit to the biblical mandates that are found throughout the teachings of the New Testament faith. Are you claiming to be a christian? Then prove it!

Ephesians 4:11-13 (KJB) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
When someone becomes a believer in Christ Jesus, and is baptized by submersion into His name, they begin a brand new life as a child of God. But at that point, they are just like a newborn infant who will need guidance and direction in order to mature into what God wants them to become. A sincere man of God will guide you in the teachings of Holy Scripture so that you can mature Spiritually, helping you to grow in your faith so that you understand more clearly what God is calling you to do. You can’t expect a newborn baby to know what to do when they are first born, and it’s the same way when you are converted to the Christian Life. Like a child coming out of the womb, we might not understand all of the teachings of our faith yet, but we do believe Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the grave, and this is where our new life in Christ begins. Now it is our responsibility to learn and to grow in the wisdom of God, perfecting ourselves from all of the sins of the carnal nature. This happens through a purification process known as sanctification, which every Saint will need to go through in order to get to heaven. God has placed Spiritual men in your path in order to help you through this process, by educating you in the teachings of our faith. This is So eventually we can walk in the attributes of our precious Lord Jesus, and become pleasing unto God in everything that we do!
