Thoughts of the Day 9/5/26 am

Philippians 3:13-14 (KJB) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul had once done a lot of bad things to the church, but when He got forgiven for all of his sins, he learned to forget about the things of his past, just as Jesus did towards him. Instead of focusing on what was behind him, his eyes were pointed towards the new life in front of him, as he put forth great effort at becoming a brand new creature in Christ Jesus!

Colossians 1:9-10 (KJB) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

When children attend a school somewhere, they will pull out their textbooks, so they can learn a specific subject, and the same thing goes on within the church. The preaching of God’s Word is done for the purpose of educating people in the teachings of Christ and the will of God. Obviously people can skip school, and eventually drop out, but this will eventually prevent them from graduating. The Apostles wanted the church to be filled up with Spiritual understanding, but it’s going to require showing up for class. We need to know the teachings of our faith so that walk a life that is pleasing unto God, and become fruitful in every good work!
