Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from The Book of Matthew.
Matthew 24:10-13 (KJB) And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Every day that passes by in this sinful world, it’s going to become more difficult to find people who genuinely care about others. You must remember that even in the days of Noah, people were getting married and raising families, but the truth is that it wasn’t the love spoken of in scriptures, because God eventually destroyed them all in a flood.
Matthew 24:37-39 (KJB) But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Jesus warned His disciples that certain people were going to betray them, and this is exactly what Judas did to Him. Rather than abiding as one of His Apostles, he switched sides and then joined up with the enemies of Christ Jesus instead. Betrayal can come from your own wife when she betrays you, and then joins up with in-laws or other relatives that absolutely hate him. After getting married and becoming one flesh with you, she will depart and forsake you. But these are some of the sufferings that you will have to endure when you become a follower of the Christian faith.
Luke 21:16 (KJB) And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Obviously, when you grow up for many years in a home, your relationships with other siblings can become extremely close, but no relationship can be stronger than the one that we have with Christ Jesus the Lord. In fact, when Jesus was addressed about his family showing up while He was preaching, He told them that it was His disciples that were His family.
Matthew 12:46-50 (KJB) While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Sometimes the closest friends that you had in this world are going to eventually betray and become your enemy. Let’s take a look at the life of Judas for a moment.
Matthew 26:19-25 (KJB) And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover. Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve. And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
Matthew 26:45-50 (KJB) Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
So once again, people will betray you and hate you simply because you believe in Jesus Christ and the doctrines of our faith. Contrary to public opinions, Jesus didn’t come to send peace on this Earth,
Matthew 10:34-37 (KJB) Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
So as we progress towards the return of the Lord Jesus, it’s going to get steadily worse in this world.
2 Timothy 3:13 (KJB) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
This world is inundated with false prophets, and false apostles, who can appear very religious on the exterior, but in reality it’s only a form of counter Christianity that is meant to deceive the public.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJB) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Just remember that it is going to get a whole lot worse in this world, as it becomes engulfed with all kinds of seducers and deceivers. Some of them are going to be the ones that you were closest to, but just like Judas, they will end up becoming,……
