Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
In this dark world, there are many people who have never truly been loved in their entire life, growing up in homes filled with hatred and rejection. So many young people have had to navigate through the soul wrenching effects of divorce, when all that they really wanted was to be part of a family and be loved. But through the gospel of Christ Jesus, there is a bright light of love that shines down from the heavens, as God showers us all, with His mercy and grace. Even when we were still sinners, He reaches out to us from the heavens above, giving up His own life as an atonement for the sins of men.
1 John 4:7-10 (KJB) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Divine charity is a quality of God, an everlasting treasure that will never fail. The love of God continues to remain even when we are surrounded by a cruel and heartless world. There are many people who claim that they know God, but to truly know Him is to walk in love. It’s not that any of us loved God, but that He loved us first, and died as a propitiation for our transgressions.
Romans 5:5-11 (KJB) And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Have you ever been digging out a rock in your backyard, but after you got started, you realized that it was far bigger than you could have ever imagines? The Apostle wanted the church to know the love of God, and the deeper that we dig, the more we can understand how enormous that it actually is.
Ephesians 3:17-19 (KJB) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Sometimes people don’t even think about all of the bad things that the Apostle Paul had once done to the church, but when we look through the lens of his life, we can see the effects of how God’s love can transform anyone from a sinner into a saint. One simply needs to open up their heart to the love of Christ Jesus, and receive complete remission for their sins.
Galatians 2:20-21 (KJB) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
The Apostle Paul finally recognized how much that Jesus loved him, and when God took ahold of his heart his entire life went through a radical change. Rather than fighting against God’s love, he fully embraced it, and received forgiveness in order to cover all of his past wrongdoings. People can repent of their sins from a sense of moral duty, but true and lasting repentance in the Christian Life springs forth from a changed heart, one that has been touched by the love of God, and the abundance of His tender mercies.
1 John 4:11-19 (KJB) Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.
Because Jesus is the creator of Heaven and Earth, He could have called out legions of angels to destroy the world when He was crucified on the cross, but He didn’t. He allowed Himself to suffer and gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus didn’t come to destroy the world, but to save it.
John 3:14-18 (KJB) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Even while we were yet in our sins, Jesus reached out from the cross to rescue us from our iniquities. We are in the age of Grace, and forgiveness is available, and what people will need to do is open up their hearts, and humbly receive,……
