1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJB) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Some people will become a believer in Jesus Christ for a period of time, but just as the Lord taught in the parable of the sower, other things are going to become more important to them than submitting to the will of God. Rather than loving Him out of a pure heart, the love of other things in this world will slowly creep into their hearts, and destroy the things that they once clung to dearly in their lives. Sometimes this is going to happen because they are led astray by others, and they are foolish enough to believe them. Be careful what you believe, because not all paths of knowledge lead to heaven. When people believe the world over the teachings of Scripture, they are opening themselves up to a world of hurt. The strong conscience that they once had in Christ Jesus will become seared, just like a burnt piece of meat that was forgotten on the grill, as they fail to remember the faith that was once instilled in them, and give themselves over to the doctrines of devils.

John 7:5 (KJB) For neither did his brethren believe in him.
When Jesus began preaching the kingdom of God, His own brethren (who were the children of Mary) didn’t believe in Him. But anyone who becomes His follower is going to have to deal with the same type of situations. Many of your own family members are not going to believe in the Lord the same way that you do, or they will be caught up in heresies, false doctrine, and rebellion against the will of God. The first commandment is to love God with our entire heart, and when you place a relationship with Jesus over your own relatives, it’s going to bring on persecution and division within the household. It’s like a wife who gets upset at her husband because he won’t stay at home with her, and decides to go to church instead. There is an old saying that blood is thicker than water, but the truth is that dedication to Christ Jesus far outweighs any other relationship in your life, especially blood relatives. This is because blood relatives are only temporal, while the family of God is eternal. Be forwarned that If your loyalties become greater for them than humble dedication to the Lord Jesus, then you truly have become unworthy of the kingdom of God.
