Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
When children grow up in their home, they are supposed to honor their parents, but when you become an adult, you are going to have to make your own decisions about what you are going to do with your life, and the ones that you make are going to cause a great rift between you and the rest of your blood relatives. This is especially true when you make the decision to become a Christian. The choice to follow Christ and His teachings is going to cause a serious break, disagreement and even estrangement with your own family members.
Luke 12:51-53 (KJB) Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Did you know that Jesus never came to bring peace on earth? Peace is the absence of conflict, which is something that Jesus never came to provide. Making the decision to become a follower of Christ Jesus and His teachings is going to result in great conflict and discord between you and your own blood relatives. Let me give you a few different examples.
Perhaps your family was raised in a completely different religion, but when you finally believed the truth in Christ Jesus, and became a follower of the faith, your own family members were at complete enmity with you. Perhaps they were infuriated because of your conversion to the teachings of Christ. Well, you are not alone if that has happened to you, because there have been many people throughout the years who have had to deal with the exact same thing. Consider the Apostles who when they became followers of Christ Jesus, they were persecuted by many of the Jews. Persecutions are going to happen when you finally decide to love Jesus more than the rest of your family. Sometimes a mother can become extremely arrogant when this happens, because she expects you to follow her rather than the teachings of our faith, but you must remember that Jesus disowned His own mother because she was outside of the will of God.
Matthew 12:47-50 (KJB) Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Sometimes people will get baptized into the faith, but will only last for a period of time as a Christian because they don’t want to deal with the onslaught of suffering that will come at the hands of their own blood relatives. So instead of suffering patiently, they want everybody to be at peace with each other, so to do so, they will love their parents more than Christ and make themselves unworthy of the kingdom of God in the process. Even though they were baptized into the faith, they simply won’t have what it takes to inherit eternal life. As I talked about recently, false prophets preach once saved, always saved, but those who do so are complete liars because it goes against the teachings and the warnings of Christ. People can certainly lose their salvation when they choose to love everything else more than Christ Jesus. The following passage was spoken to the church, not to a group of unbelievers.
1 Corinthians 16:22 (KJB) If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.
Discord is going to happen between you and your blood relatives when you become a follower of the teachings of Christ, and if anybody can understand what you are going through, I certainly do.
As a child, I was brought up in the ELCA which is a Protestant denomination, but I never truly believed until my 30s when I was baptized by submersion. As I grew in the teachings of Scripture, I understood that the place where I grew up was a false form of Christianity, and the Lord required me to come out and to be separate from them. This caused great discord in my family especially with my own mother who was involved extensively preaching scripture from the lectern. The last time I saw her I told her that she needed to repent of what she was involved with, and that lit the fuse that caused her to get involved spreading so much evil about me. For years on end, I’ve had to deal with blood relatives and even in-laws who have joined hands together with her, and called out the authorities on me, falsely accused me, been busy bodies in my family’s life (which holds the same weight as a murderer in the eyes of God), and the list goes on and on and on. I always think of this following verse because they are the manifestation of its fulfillment.
Proverbs 16:5 (KJB) Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
The Bible teaches us that we need to distance ourselves from those who hold false and unbiblical beliefs. Even when I looked into Mormonism and Roman Catholicism, they are so far outside of the teachings of scripture that they can be classified as a false religion. I even was involved for a short period of time at the AG Church who are involved in strong held heretical beliefs. After I separated from them, I spent many months trying to find a church that actually believed in the Scriptures, but everywhere that I went, I finally realized that we live in a world where we are surrounded by false prophets, just as Jesus foretold.
The false Christianity in the world today is a result of a rejection of Scriptural Truth. A lot of them desire to make the teachings of Scripture fit the world, rather than the world repenting of their sins and submitting to God’s will. Many preachers you see today don’t even preach from the scriptures half of the time, but are repeating teachings from people such as John Calvin who was an impenitent and heretical wretch of a man.
My mother was extremely controlling and preaching in the church, and there were times when my Earthly dad explained that she preached at him quite often. I couldn’t have anything to do with their religion, and because of this I have been absolutely hated, but Jesus never came to bring peace on the Earth. When you love Him enough to come out and be separate, it’s going to cause great variance with your own blood relatives.
Matthew 10:34-36 (KJB) Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
People have always said that there is no greater relationships have you will ever possess in with your own family, but those who hold those to those ideologies have never really become a Christian in their heart. Once you make a decision to listen to Christ Jesus above and beyond the will of your own parents, get ready for discord. The people that you cared about so much when you grew up are going to turn into your greatest enemies, simply because of their decision to choose their religion over Christ and His teachings. But whenever you have to endure such things consider it all joy, because it is a fulfillment of prophecy whenever you become a partaker of,……
