Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
When people start getting older, sometimes they will walk around town and trip over things, or even knock over stuff as they are shopping at the local grocery store. When somebody asks them if their vision is all right, or if they might need some new glasses, they will claim that they can see just fine, and then go about their business. A few minutes later, you might watch them again as they get into their car, and back into their neighbors vehicle behind them, and when you approach them and ask them again if they can see, they will tell you “certainly”, and then drive off into the distance.
This reminds me of Christian Life
Just like the religious leaders of Jesus’ day, today you will find many people who profess to be a Christian who quickly make the claim that they can see, but the real truth is that they are completely blind and unspiritual. The only way that any of us can see things rightly is when we look through the corrective lenses of God’s Holy Word. When you see the many forms of false Christianity completely reject certain passages of scripture, you can know for a fact that it’s because they are blinded by their impenitent hearts, and oblivious to the own religious pride.
John 9:39-41 (KJB) And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
It is impossible to repent of your sins, if you are not going to accept the corrections of Holy Scripture. There have been many times in my life when I’ve been walking around in a town somewhere, and talking to people about the Christian faith. At times I have run into somebody who claimed to be a believer, but when you began explaining to them all of the heretical and false teachings that were going on in there particular religion, their heart would suddenly become cold, and after that, it was like talking to a brick wall. Even when you took them to the Word of God, and tried to explain the teachings of Christ, they completely rejected them in order to embrace their own false beliefs.
Religious pride is a terrible thing, because rather than accepting the Eternal authority of God’s Word, they will usurp it, and then believe lies instead. Rather than humbling themselves enough to put on the corrective lenses of Holy Scripture, they will refuse to repent, just so they can hold on to their own religious traditions and false belief system. At that point, they become a fulfillment of the teachings of Christ, because they are blind leaders of the blind.
Matthew 15:12-14 (KJB) Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
So even though they might claim to believe in Jesus, when they reject God’s Word, you will know that they are not of God.
John 8:47 (KJB) He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
If people are not going to believe the Truth, then they are going to believe lies instead; and they will believe them so fiercely that nobody will be able to convince them otherwise. This too is a fulfillment of prophecy.
2 Timothy 4:4 (KJB) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Even though people refuse to accept the Truth of scripture, you must never become disheartened, because it is ultimately a work of God. For the same purpose Pharaoh was raised up, because he resisted the will of God in the same manner.When they forsake His teachings, He is going to cause them to believe a lie instead. Even though they might believe that they are going to be in heaven someday, their belief is in vain, because their conscience is seared beyond redemption, and they will be damned with all of the rest at the final judgment.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 (KJB) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Romans 1:28 (KJB) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJB) Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Most people think that there is only one antichrist at the end of the world, but there have always been many antichrists, who profess to be a Christian but completely reject the teachings of the Christian faith. When they oppose God’s Word in such a manner, they fight against Christ Jesus, which is an act act of wickedness, sedition and rebellion.
1 John 2:18 (KJB) Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
So whenever people reject passages of Scripture, I have always been reminded of what Jesus said about them.
Luke 6:46 (KJB) And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Millions of professing Christians claim that God is their Father, but if that were the case, His children would easily submit themselves to the teachings of His Holy Word. They claim that they are in Christ, but the reality is that they never really knew Him. These are the spiritually blind people of the world, who choose to accept their own version of truth, rather than the Truth of the living God. It’s a Christianity without Christ’s Word, a faith without fidelity, and a religion without repentance, all because they are too proud to admit that they are blind, and humbly reach out, for God’s,…….
